[EVENT] Fantastically Fun Fleet Fight! March 23, 2019

You've got Fight Club for one-on-one PVP,
Death Arena for free-for-all PVP,
And Noobs On Patrol gets your feet wet for PVPing in a fleet.
But a fleet fighting another fleet?

It's time for a Fantastically Fun Fleet Fight! (Name change pending boos and hisses from the crowd.)

Coming soon to a campus near you (cough, HSC, cough), we'll be hosting a new event that pits one E-Uni fleet against another E-Uni fleet - with the aim of blowing each other up. The stakes are high, the rewards are high, and the fun factor is... er... high. So how will this work?

Location : Amygnon
Date + time : Saturday 23rd Mar @ 20:00 "Eve time"
Duration : 2 hrs (Half-hour prep, maximum 1.5-2 hours combat, probably much less)
Area : Hi-sec
Communications : Fleet Chats, Event Chat, E-Uni Private Mumble

Objective
Two fleets of equally matched sizes and restrictions will do their best to blow each other up.

Requirements
Pilots should be completely trained up in BLAP for DD or Logi or even both. They should also have been on at least one prior sanctioned Fleet op or class to be familiar with following fleet commands. All ships and fittings will be provided by the event organizers - just bring yourself, a clean clone, a beverage of choice, and a mind towards having fun.

Rules (More to follow in the next post)
  • FC's will be chosen from volunteers well in advance of the event.
  • Each FC will be given the same restrictions to build a fleet out of BLAP T1 Fittings.
  • Fleets will be comprised of participants assigned at the start of the event and balanced for experience.
  • Pod-Killing is ALLOWED! Victim can 'respawn' in a new ship.
Rewards
The winning fleet will split at least 1 Billion ISK amongst all of their participants. They will also be provided the opportunity to defend their "trophy" the next time we run the event. Sponsors may supply additional rewards, of any amount, for "Best ___" categories of their choosing.

Timeline
  • This post announcing the event : Monday, Feb 11, 2019
  • Open Discussion of rules closes : Saturday, Mar 2, 2019
  • Rules Finalized and posted in thread : Saturday, Mar 9, 2019
  • FC's Picked and given their restrictions : Saturday, Mar 9, 2019
  • FC's deadline for fleet composition : Saturday, Mar 16, 2019
  • Event (Everyone Kills Each Other) : Saturday, Mar 23, 2019 @ 20:00

Heads Up!
This is an ambitious event and there are going to be some bumps and bruises as we iron out all of the details. The next post in this thread will be used to outline the rules in more detail and will be updated as things are fleshed out more. Please come with a mind for maximizing the fun, and be ready to provide feedback and suggestions before and after the event to make the next one go that much more smoothly!

Please reply if you're interested - and include a list of all of the roles you can fulfill or will be able to fulfill before the event date.
Possible Roles: FC, 2IC, Logi, Scout, DD
FC's will be carefully selected to try to balance their experience to make for a fair fight.

Rules and Details followup

Alright, for the meat and potatoes, here's the rules. Remember, these are geared for the following factors:
  • Maximum Fun, Balance and Learning Opportunities
  • Not breaking the bank of the event organizers
  • Staying with established E-Uni doctrines to make it available to all.

Setup and Overview
  • The event will take place entirely within Amygnon system.
  • One noncombatant organizer will be placed within each fleet to ensure fairness
  • Fleets will be given a bookmark for their starting point
  • The starting scenario will be based upon FC agreement.
    • One fleet finding the other via scouting (Defender is scattered at first)
    • Both fleets finding each other via scouting (fleets not scattered except for scouts)
    • Fleets are given a waypoint to meet at and begin the fight (no scouting required)
  • Additional details will be provided at event start, because OpSec.
Punishments
  • Players found violating the established rules may be disqualified from the remainder of the event. They will remain eligible for rewards, at the discretion of the organizers (who may defer that discretion to one team or the other, depending on the infraction).
  • Players who must leave before the event is over are NOT breaking the rules, and will be fully eligible for all rewards.
General Arena Rules:
Permitted/Encouraged
  • Pod-killing IS permitted, and may even be rewarded.
  • Taunting in Local, as long as E-Uni Rules are followed.
Disqualifying
  • Leaving the arena (All of Amygnon local space)
  • Docking in station/citadel for more than a set time limit.
  • Attempts at espionage or sabotage outside of general combat.
  • Attacking an event organizer, referee, or noncombatant support pilot.
Fleet Composition:
  • FC's, chosen two weeks prior to the event, will be given one week to decide a BLAP Doctrine to fly.
  • Fleets may be composed of BLAP T1: Cruisers, Logi, DD, Scout, Tackle, Support and the FC's will be restricted to certain numbers of each.
  • FC's themselves will be permitted to modify only their own starting ship, but will agree with each other upon a budget and any other restrictions for this specific purpose. Cruiser at maximum.
  • All T1 hulls and fittings will be provided. If the FC's agree that T2 is allowed for their FC ship, they must provide it.
  • The following modules are NOT Permitted:
    • Cloaking Devices
    • Smart Bombs
  • FC's will be permited to pick their Logi pilots in advance, but will be asked to try to balance experience.
  • All roles other than FC and Logi will be assigned at the start of the event, with emphasis on balancing experience.

These rules will be updated as we iron out the remaining details. Current revision: 2/11/2019 00:42.

Re: [EVENT] Fantastically Fun Fleet Fight! March 23, 2019

This sounds like a lot of fun, and also great practice for roaming fleet fights. In addition to serving as a willing target (logi, basic DD, or anti-WT picket), I am also happy to help provide fitted ships once the doctrines are chosen. I promise not to "forget" to put ammo on the ships of the opposing team.
