Re: Corax

Hi Milja,

Using Pyfa and an alpha character setting I'm getting 130% CPU for your fit, am I doing something wrong?

More than likely I'm doing something wrong, actually. The fit is similar to the Cheap L2 Sniper fit in the wiki, replacing the SSE with a meta and one Processor Overclocking Unit with a Field Purger (which is probably where the CPU loss is occurring). I haven't had much experience with Pyfa yet, as it's a bit overwhelming, but I'm also slowly coming to the realization that my own skills aren't really considered newbro anymore, at least in the frigate/destroyer range.

I'll take another crack at it with Pyfa when I get a moment. Thanks for the info.

I have a profile in PyFA called "After BLAP (both) - Alpha", which is basically the starting skills from a newly made character which has then trained both branches (DD and Logi) of the BLAP plan, and is Alpha restricted. This is about as (reasonably) basic as you can expect from a new(er) Unista, I think.
Using that profile, with Milja's fit above I get 102.99% on CPU (8.06 tf over budget). Training CPU Management V (which everyone really should, asap), there is no problem with CPU anymore. :D

I also have a "Max Alpha - Caldari" profile, which has plenty to spare in both CPU and PG on this fit.

I'm curious to know how you got 130% CPU in PyFA? Even a newly created Caldari character that has trained not a single skill level at all, sits at no more than 105.71% on CPU with this fit. :surprised:

Re: Corax

Athena's post made me go back and check I'd setup my Pyfa alpha char correctly and I guess I didn't "All 0" is 133.4 whereas "All 5 - Alpha" is 93.6

Sorry Milja  Your fit is Alpha-friendly.

Re: Corax

While that fit is Alpha-friendly it does need some fitting skills for a new player because its a bit tight on CPU and needs Weapon Upgrades 5 or CPU Management 5 & Weapon Upgrades to 3. Not long trains but it won't be something new players can blindly pick up to use.

Re: Corax

Just to note: Weapon Upgrades 3 is part of the BLAP (DD) skill training plan, so for a new(er) Unista after having trained that plan they only need CPUM 5 - which, along with its PG equivalent, should really be trained as early as possible imho.

It can be argued that with this being a Destroyer (i.e. a "bigger" hull), players should have spent at least a couple of weeks with Frigates and training some basic skills (core, fitting, etc.) during that time before moving up in hull class, but... Maybe there are good arguments to be made for the contrary as well? I dunno.

It seems like it mosly boils down to a simple question:
What do we consider "Alpha friendly", and which (skill) level(s) should we target for when designing fits for alphas/new(er) players?

Re: Corax

Progression is not linear aside from skill requirements. Some players jump straight to cruisers without trying frigates for too long.

Alpha clone fits shouldn't be associated to new player fits as the Alpha clone train can lead to some high SP fits. I feel that a new player fit should ideally be something someone can pick up right off the bat and use. Maybe spend an hour or a day of training omega rate training. In this case since it is meant for a starter pack, then it probably needs the instructions to go with it. While BLAP skill plan is a guideline for E-UNI its not a priority for all players.

Re: Corax

Milja Itazura,
change the Light Missile Launcher I to TE-2100 Ample Light Missile Launcher. They are better in every regard and the price isn't that much higher.
Same Adaptive Invulnerability Field I => Limited Adaptive Invulnerability Field.

Generally you want specific resists in PvE. If you do anoms, signatures and so on you can use rigs for resists. If you do missions you use hardeners.

Following fit would be the default for missions (with varying hardeners of course)
SPOILER WARNING!
[Corax, low skill mission]

Ballistic Control System I
Damage Control I

1MN Y-S8 Compact Afterburner
Limited Kinetic Deflection Field I
Limited Thermal Dissipation Field I
Small F-S9 Regolith Compact Shield Extender

TE-2100 Ample Light Missile Launcher, Scourge Light Missile
TE-2100 Ample Light Missile Launcher, Scourge Light Missile
TE-2100 Ample Light Missile Launcher, Scourge Light Missile
TE-2100 Ample Light Missile Launcher, Scourge Light Missile
TE-2100 Ample Light Missile Launcher, Scourge Light Missile
TE-2100 Ample Light Missile Launcher, Scourge Light Missile
TE-2100 Ample Light Missile Launcher, Scourge Light Missile

Small Processor Overclocking Unit I
Small Processor Overclocking Unit I
Small Core Defense Field Purger I

Scourge Light Missile x1001
Inferno Light Missile x1000
Mjolnir Light Missile x1000
Nova Light Missile x1000

If the skills are good enough one fitting rig can be removed. Overall I would usually use the compact launchers but they are more expensive and it seems you aim for a very cheap fit. Depending on taste you might also change the hardeners to resistance amplifiers which frees some CPU. If you don't feel you need a lot of tank (after all this is a kiting fit) you can use that freed CPU to fit another BCS and maybe even some DPS rigs.
