Re: Slasher

Slasher fleet tackle? I think we can keep that fit, but swap the disruptor for a web, because there are better ships for fleet tackle(literally every inty).

The ASB fit looks interesting, can't see any real issues with it. Maybe the rig could be swapped for another resistance rig.

  • Very tight on CPU fitting requirements. Needs Weapon Upgrades V and CPU Management V
  • AB/Scram/Kite archetype for Faction Warfare PVP

Edit: Thought I'd just add it here than create a new post.

Suggestion for Day One Newbro Fleet Tackle:
  Code:

Small Core Defense Field Extender I

Strengths
  • Cap Stable
  • Can be flown immediately by New Minmatar Pilot
  • Pretty fast for a new pilot 3117 m/s (OH: 4407 m/s)

This suggestion is only for New/Alpha pilots to work with. We could swap the scram with web in case there is a need for more webs to catch oversized AB fits.

Suggest to replace the insta-locker fit, with this sturdier variant. Insta-lockers on gates, don't need speed, but every bit of survivability they can get.

Suggest to remove or adjust the remaining fits as well, because (1) ab-scram-kite slasher deal only half the damage than the scram-kite atron (which isn't a good fit neither, tackle frigs are just bad for solo and engagement window is niche), (2) one of the fits with meta guns seems to intend to use t2 barrage ammo, which isn't possible, (3) i think tracking disruption fleet tackle slashers are just amazing!

Re: Slasher

As as T1 hulls go, I'm pretty passionate about the Slasher, and I feel that while some of these ship concepts are viable, most are garbage.

I would be glad to go into exhaustive detail about why the Slasher is the best T1 tackle frigate, by a fair margin, but I feel that a separate thread would be the best way to communicate that. Additionally I feel that it would have to be requested.

While there are no hard and fast rules about fitting, there are a couple of good guidelines. One of them is this:

Avoid overtanking a ship which does not have a tank bonus.

Three CDFE rigs on a tackle frigate, to me is not a good idea unless it's secondary or vanguard type tackle. It doesn't play into the Slasher's general profile. Overall I think the Slasher is one of the best T1 ships for what it is designed for.

Tackle Man
This is my standard tackle setup. In cargo are many mods which allow me to adjust to suite the circumstances. These can be explained in detail, if requested.

  Code:
[Slasher, Slasher - Shield MWD AutoCannon 125mm Mk1 Standard]

Damage Control II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

5MN Y-T8 Compact Microwarpdrive
Faint Epsilon Scoped Warp Scrambler
Fleeting Compact Stasis Webifier
Medium Azeotropic Restrained Shield Extender

Small Ghoul Compact Energy Nosferatu
125mm Gatling AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S
125mm Gatling AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S
125mm Gatling AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet EMP S

Small Ancillary Current Router I
Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I
Small Anti-EM Screen Reinforcer I

If I'm doing primary tackle I use a warp disruptor in place of the web. There are many particulars about each choice of module fitted, for that I would have to explain separately.

PvP Focus
As a PvP ship the Slasher tends to rely on specific concepts to its advantage. Like the other Tackle Frigates (aside from the Atron) the Slasher has a very thin tank, and thus it relies on a skilled pilot who knows exactly what he's doing to leverage its strengths to achieve the upper hand. There are a couple of viable concepts: a shield tank could make it an excellent anti-kiter thanks to its high base speed.

  Code:
[Slasher, Slasher - Armor AB AutoCannons 200mm TD]

Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste
Damage Control II

1MN Afterburner II
Fleeting Compact Stasis Webifier
Faint Epsilon Scoped Warp Scrambler
Baker Nunn Enduring Tracking Disruptor I, Tracking Speed Disruption Script

200mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion S
200mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion S
200mm AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion S
Small Energy Neutralizer II

Small Projectile Collision Accelerator I
Small Projectile Burst Aerator I
[Empty Rig slot]

This setup is only for FW and when used properly, can counter a number of different common setups. Using the correct ammo, operating setup and script is the difference between winning and loosing.

@Alex: I don't think I've seen any fit name more descriptive than yours: I though mine was more than what everybody else does by default. :)

Re: Slasher

Yes, nice! Happy to see you so passionate about the Slasher and glad to have a discussion going.

(1) First and foremost I agree with you completely, the Atron and Slasher are by far the best T1 tackle frigates.
(2) I love your input, but would have wanted to read more on why you believe the concepts are garbage. Q: Is there more than rigs?

What I can see:

Low Slots

- here we have the same concept, damage control and a nanofiber OR a overdrive (nanofiber vs overdrive is a seperate discussion, i've done extensive testing and almost too heated discussions on this, but I leave this to it, because the fundamental idea is the same)

High Slots

- seems we have the same concept here as well, smallest iteration of gatlings and utility high that fits (i'll post my web scram version for reference)

Mid Slots

- again, pretty similar... 5mn MWD, Medium Shield Extender, than either 2x Tackle Mods vs 1x Tackle Mod and 1x Disruptor.

So, we are talking about the rigs, correct?

Well, let's look at the web-scram version. Here is mine:

SPOILER WARNING!
[Slasher, M-SB ✈ | AC3 | ★ 117 DPS ✈ 4'240m/s | 2.85s ✚ 4'917 + 20.3 EHP | Fleet Warfare - Light Tackle (-8.33 GJ/s)]

Micro Auxiliary Power Core I
Overdrive Injector System II

5MN Quad LiF Restrained Microwarpdrive
Medium Shield Extender II
X5 Enduring Stasis Webifier
Faint Epsilon Scoped Warp Scrambler

200mm AutoCannon II, Hail S
200mm AutoCannon II, Hail S
Small Gremlin Compact Energy Neutralizer
200mm AutoCannon II, Hail S

Small Core Defense Field Extender I
Small Core Defense Field Extender I
Small Core Defense Field Extender I

Hail S x225
Barrage S x390
Republic Fleet EMP S x390
Republic Fleet Phased Plasma S x390

Let's compare stats (my stats listed first):

DPS: 117 DPS at 750+4.84km vs 105 DPS at 600+4.03km <-- 12% more DPS, slightly better range 22-ish%
Utility High: Neutralizer vs Nosferatu <-- matter of preference, both work well and can be exchanged

EHP: 4,92k vs 4.11k <-- 19% more Tank, 0.1k EHP less in EM, but almost 1k EHP more in the most used damage profile: Thermal
(lowest resist) EM Resist: 4.25k vs 4.35
(most used damage type) Thermal Resist: 4.58k vs 3.62k
(highest resist) Shrapnel Resist: 6.49k vs 4.78k

Velocity: 4'240m/s vs 4'324m/s <-- 2% less Velocity
Agility MWD Off: 2s vs 2s
Agility MWD On: 4s vs 3s <-- 1s less aligntime

In this case, using a web scram combination I'll prefer the beefier (more tank, more dps) version, trading off the 76m/s and 1s agility bonus with MWD on, since you want to approach into web scram range as quickly as possible, this doesn't weight in much.

Hence, why my first scram tackle has 8k EHP. It has twice the staying power than the example you posted. Drones will chew through 4k quickly, especially if we talk Hobgoblins.

Further, my second scram tackle uses tracking disruption, if you have at least 2 maybe 3 tacklers, they completely take away hostile turrets and have 6k EHP staying power.

And last but not least, if you put a point on a Slasher, you want it to go fast, lock long range, and stay at range. I am not fond of mixing T1 tacklers with long point and scrams, they do have a too high signature and should either be point ewar and survive, or web scram to go all in...

So, the long point version put next to our previous comparison:

DPS: 105 DPS vs (117 DPS vs 105 DPS) <-- it won't close in, but it can use the good tracking to kill nasty drones
Utility High: ATS for +2 maximum targets locked vs (Neutralizer vs Nosferatu) <-- it wont close in, neuts and nos are exchanged for having more targets available for pre-lock, especially useful if it want to lock 5 drones and a couple of targets

EHP: 4.24k vs (4,92k vs 4.11k) <-- staying at range, good piloting, and being fast is the tank it need to rely on

Velocity: 4'582m/s (4'240m/s vs 4'324m/s) <-- almost 4.6km/s, which is surprisingly fast, especially with heat or links
Agility MWD Off: 2s (2s vs 2s) <-- same
Agility MWD On: 3s (4s vs 3s) <-- same

Targeting range: 35.2km vs (28.1km vs 28.1km) <-- now this is a usually overlooked one, but a very significant one: to effectively apply your long points (especially if it overheats, have links, or heat AND have links, it will never make use of that increased range! even with no help, it will only be able to lock targets after they have come into warp disruption range and it will lose lock again quickly against fast slingshot targets. valuable seconds might get lost and the target might warp off until range and new lock is established.

So, my thought process is completely from a FC perspective. I wan't my fleet Slashers / Atrons to either be "survivable long pointers" or "all-in web-scramers" for each role I want them to max out their stats to do best what they are meant for. and control is so powerful, that not using warp disruption with tracking disruption on a increased targeting range Slasher is a crime in my eyes. :)

Do any of my points correlate with your ideas K950?

PS: I like the modularity you have in the mid slots. it's perfect if you want to have just that one fit for everything.

Re: Slasher

Regarding solo fits, I still think t1 tackle frigates should be avoided. the breacher does a better job in range control and damage application. don't get me wrong, the fits do work fine, but their engagement window is just so small. do we need to list them as our top ship fits? new players often are overwhelmed with those skill intensive fittings (skill intensive in regards of manual piloting, module micromanagement, and "forgiveness" of pilot errors).

Re: Slasher

For solo PvP the Slasher doesn't perform very well against other common FW contenders, just like rocket Condors.

Apparently the rocket Condor is okay for null though...either way I think for FW both of these ships rely on the utility neut and damage mitigation in some capacity (orbit 500 with rockets, or scram kite with rockets) to survive (EWAR or tracking bonus advantage afforded by the Slasher's hull bonus).

I think it'd be up to the fitting manager to make that call: I suppose if it was me, I'd put the common "armor" (I could definitely volley through it with an artillery rifter if I could track it) AB TD setup and nothing else, with a definite note that this is for advanced pilots.

Re: Slasher

do you see the ab armor solo slasher as a scram-kiter or scram-brawler, apparently, it can do both, just curious about the primary intention of the fit.

Re: Slasher

How you use the ship depends on what the opponent is using. If he's using a 125mm Railgun scramkiting Incursus you just orbit 500m and let the neut work. If it's a missile boat, you don't engage; if it's something like a Rifter or any energy boat, again, same thing. If he has pulse lasers or autocannons then it can get quite dicey. Drone boats like the tristan - bail.

It's a very situational ship, but it can counter specific setups pretty well. Against something like a Ion Blaster Atron with a NOS -- tsk tsk I can't really say.

Slashers are fast, the highest base of any T1 frigate (that I can recall, the schildwall site has gone down), the lowest signature and the highest base scan resolution.
