[Meta] Summary on T1 Frigate Logistics

Post by Alexander Oromov »

I've been reviewing the T1 Frigate Logistics and this post concludes my findings. I'd also be happy to receive more insights and examples on how to further improve the fittings in regards of the aspects I was focusing at.

What are T1 Frigate Logistics?

T1 Frigate Logistics are amazing little ships that provide some of the most rewarding experiences in fleet combat. They often decide the outcome of fleet combat by remote repairing allied ships and denying - or at least delaying - enemy kills.

T1 Frigate Logistics generally possess adequate speed, but atrocious agility. Despite cap draining remote repairs, cap stability is not an issue, however, the reliance on cap booster and cap charges is, especially in prolonged fights or hostile territory. T1 Frigate Logistics do not possess the endurance of their T2 counterparts and will be instantly destroyed by the overwhelming damage in large fleet fights. They do work fine in small to mid-sized gangs. Without countermeasures T1 Frigate Logistics will always be vulnerable to electronic warfare.

What factors play into T1 Frigate Logistics fitting considerations?

1. Endurance: Allied remote repairs need time to land, having a large enough buffer is essential for survival.
2. Resistance: High resists multiply with incoming remote repairs and synergize with the length of combat. The longer the fight, the more effective HP gain.
3. Resistance Profile: Considerations on resist profiles are beneficial, e.g. thermal is the most used and the heaviest hitting damage type in EVE.
4. Remote Repairs: The more HP/s you get out of your ship, the better, however, often HP/s is trumped by endurance and resistances (exemption: solo logistics)
5. Capacitor: Most fits rely on cap boosters and cap charges. Passive cap recharge fittings often require too sacrificial trade-offs.
6. Speed: Remote repairs require proximity to allied ships. However, often agility turns out to be a bigger issue than velocity.
7. Targeting: Not only does electronic warfare pose a constant threat, but logistics do also benefit from faster lock times.
8. Price: Deadspace fittings are more suitable to T2 Frigate Logistics.

What are the capabilities of the Inquisitor?

The Inquisitor is the optimal choice for mid-sized armor fleets. It strengths are endurance and resistances, but it lacks the ability to counter electronic warfare.

What are the capabilities of the Burst?

The Burst is light on endurance and resistances, but trumps with velocity. Generally, it is only viable with a MWD. The AB iteration fills the niche of a passive cap recharge fitting for shield logistics. The MWD fitting can be refitted with an overdrive or a nanofiber for a significant boost in velocity.

My logi is currently rolling with the following. Mainly because my Magic14 are not all at 5 yet and this one is a tad easier to fit. On the downsite it is not 100% as effective as your MWD Inqui fit up there.

Basically you did the right thing by simply downgrading to meta compact modules until you're able to upgrade your fitting skills.

I wanted to address something before looking at the various t1 frigate logistics ship threads which I was hoping a meta thread would cover.

There seems to be quite a few variations of Small Ship Logistics ships. The variations revolve around:
  • Speed
  • Tank
  • Remote EHP/s
  • Capacitor Source (Recharged vs Boosted)
Are there minimum's around these attributes that factor into building fits or doctrines for a small ship or a fleet scenario? Considering that there is only limited variation on the attributes on a resource constrained hull like frigates, how would stat weights look between these factors?
Just a humble scout

That's where I touched on this topic.

Regarding speed:

there is no special need to focus on speed variation. bantam / inquisitors are used for brawly doctrines and are always faster than destroyers and almost always as fast if not faster than frigates. the burst is for fast shield kite doctrines and you can't make the burst faster than 3.7k/s and that's what i have in the proposed fit above. navitas is useless in almost any case unless there is ewar expected.

Regarding tank:

Well, you try to have as much buffer and resists on top of logi without sacrificing ehp/s, which is pretty much given by the hull pg/cpu.

Regarding ehp/s:

it's not necessarely about how much ehp/s you get on t1 frigate logistics, but more price, cap stability and repair range. on t1 logistics meta reps are totally fine. on t2 variants and cruisers one can argue that its a different story.

Regarding recharched vs boosted:

boosted is prefered, because recharded fits do sacrifice way too much in regards of tank. recharged are only useful if you know you won't get targeted or you know that you will be so far away from home that you won't be able to resupply additional charges. i have the fits IF i need them, but i've never used recharged.

PS: If you are looking for numbers I'd say brawl logi needs 7-8k EHP buffer, kite logi 5k EHP. Remote repairs should be Scoped meta were applicable. boosted fits are always cap stable. and speed, well, you take what you get which usually is sufficient.
