I need to learn how to arrive at a location full of danger, and live...
The specific scenario...

Pass thru gate... see Overview turn red
At this point, my reaction (as is the reaction of MOST new players) is
Panic
Make a decision
Panic some more
Change mind
Panic Panic Panic
Calm down, make better decision
Realize it will not work
Panic some more
(And this is all in the first 3 seconds)
Think maybe approaching gate would be best, click on it to see how far away it is
realize that you're moving now
uncloaked
lock/scram/web
I better try MWD to.... Poooooof.... pod
Oh hell, overview, podsaver... I need to
>poof<

Could we get some instruction from someone who knows what to do
Combined with REAL excercise... passing thru gate, into the face of 5 BS, trying to DO something about it (Even effectively fleeing would be a good plan, if we knew how to do it well, and had practice)

This is, without a doubt, the best description of every new player's first lowsec gatecamp/PVP gatecamp/oops, I jumped throught the wrong gate into 0.0 experience I have ever read. Thanks for making me laugh, but you owe me for a new keyboard, and don't even ask about the monitor. :D

We'll put something together soon.

anything other than fleet ops

Post by John Bariman »

At this point (with all the war decs), all other aspects of the game need to be talked about. Classes have generally been sparce and far in between.

I would like to see some class during the PST period. I know that I want a lot of the class but most of them are when I'm work. I interested in PvP so:
tackling
fleet 101
basic EWAR

aussie time zone classes

I'd like to see classes that are at times that I can attend. I have tried to get to a couple but they are usually 6/7am for me

Mostly interested in pvp, so ewar, tackling, staying alive in hostile space type classes would be great
also would like a class in scanning/probing/exploration

Necromancy...

But I need to retrain my forum skills after the update.

Is there any chance will have a SC certification class soon?

Cheers.

Gate camps -- how to avoid or get through one / how to set up a 'good one'.

My interest is more in avoiding/surviving bumping into one but how good ones are setup would be necessary to even run such a class so folks would learn both sides of it at 1 shot.

Stuff like checking the systems to see if ships have been destroyed there earlier, trying to get past one in a cloaked ship, without a cloaked ship, how they find you in a cloaked ship, how you avoid being found, etc...

It's been said in other threads; Squad Commander class hasn't been taught for several months now.

I'd like to see a class on group/fleet activities, covering:

- What can actually be done in fleets
- Roles within a fleet (are there any "must haves", what roles do people tend to shy away from)
- Fleet protocol (should everyone in a mission share the rewards or each take their own, is it okay to leave/join fleets that are running, do fleets get "locked" to any activities, how should salvage loot be shared out, and anything else we should watch out for)
- A session with a uni fleet doing... something (whatever it is you need a fleet for, both pve and pvp if possible)

In wowspeak (apologies for resorting to that, but its what I know best), this would be "an introduction to running instances". I dont know what the Eve parallel to that is, if any.

You're probably looking for the Fleet 101 class.

Would like to see a wormhole ops class please (including practical). Could be especially useful to help out all the newer members so they have something else to do during wardecs :)

For everyone wanting to learn a bit more about wormholes, there is the joint D6 operation in a bit (http://www.eve-ivy.com/forums/viewtopic ... 15&t=25248).
Ofcourse Deran has been organizing Wormhole Operations for the battlegroup quite regulary lately.
These are a lot of fun and are suited for pilots of all levels and religions.
I've always found practical operations like these, with a vocal FC, invaluable.
