[CLASS] Intro to the Null-Sec Community | Tuesday 29 November| 1900 EVE Time

Post by Mosq »

This class is aimed at Unistas who recently came to, and those who are planning to come to, the Null-Sec Community (PC9 pocket). Of course anyone not fitting that description is most welcome to attend as well. The class material has been updated in the past week to make sure it's accurate.

This class covers basic information about the Nullsec community and provides links for further reading if you'd so please.

We will cover:

- What is Null-Security space? What makes it different from LS/HS?
- What is the EVE University Null-Sec Community?
- PvP
- Ratting & Exploration
- Mining & Industry

Please be advised that some topics we touch upon have entire classes on their own. We will not do a deepdive into the listed topics.

Instructor: Mosq
When: Tuesday 29 November 19:00 EVE Time
Where: Mumble (audio) and Discord (streaming); you will need to use both to get the full class.
Duration: 1 1/2 hour scheduled

Student requirements:
  • Mumble registration and access: make sure you have Mumble sorted out and operational well before the class begins. Use this page for set-up.
  • Access to the EVE Uni Discord (slide presentation will occur in a Discord classroom, and Discord will be the main channel for text questions)
This class is a lecture followed by Q&A, delivered in Mumble, with the slides delivered on the EVE University Discord and questions taken in the relevant Discord channel. There is no practical component or need to undock. We recommend not doing anything risky or attention-intensive in-game while listening!

The aim is to schedule this class regularly, and starting by doing 4-5 classes in rather quick succession to catch up, afterwhich the frequency will go down.

Scheduled classes:
Tuesday 29 November 1900

Previous classes:
Friday 26 August
Monday 5 September
Sunday 11 September
Tuesday 13 September
Tuesday 27 September
Tuesday 11 October
Sunday 30 October
Tuesday 15 November

Thank you for hosting this class! I plan to attend unless something comes up. I was part of a NS corp for about a year and it was like a totally different game - I'd love to see how we do it here, learn some new stuff, and get a bit more into an aspect of the game that I have not seen in a while.

You're very welcome.

Please note though: due to a guest lecture that got scheduled I've moved this Class from Saturday 26 to Tuesday 29.

Hi Mosq, thanks for updating the content and presenting again - here are a couple of questions to get us going :-)

1. What kind of ships/fits should we be using for belt ratting and combat anomalies? Fits I've seen tend to be close range blasters/rockets - is there a role for laser/drone/missile fits for ratting?

2. PC9 Standing Fleet & Nullsec Intel channel seem quite active in terms for spotting non-friendlies. In the Intel channel there's often messages like "<enemy name> ZN0 -1" - what does the -1 (or +1) mean in relation to hunting targets around the pocket.

1) Personally I like the Gnosis and Praxis (missiles + drones) for beltratting. But there are a lot of options for that activity really. As for combat anomalies, it depends on which one, but this isn't an activity I do myself really (yet, maybe?). I do see a Tengu used a lot.
2) -1 = neut left system, +1 = neut entered system.

Perfect that the talk has been moved to Tuesday - my Daughter came over for dinner on Saturday and I can't persuade her to log on - yet...
