Trying to figure out who to run missions for, any advice would be appreciated.

Post by Gromda the Grump »

I started off as a Caldari and ran through all of the career agent missions, Enforcer, etc., Once that was complete I started running some Caldari Navy security level 1 missions (one of which gave me a bit of a hit to my Gallente standing, which I wasn't happy about). Eventually plan to run level 2 missions, but am trying to earn some ISK to fit out my Cormorant.

I intend to mostly run PVE content, at least for the time being, while working up my skills. Right now I'd say I'm leaning towards running turret builds, though I might sprinkle in some missiles now and again. So it seems like Caldari ships fit that type of playstyle, but I could be wrong there. It appears that Gallente ships tend to lean towards drones, which really doesn't seem to be my playstyle of choice -- mining runs aside.

From what I gather the Corporation has a foothold in Gallente space so I'm really worried I might hurt my reputation with the Gallente Federation if I run too many Caldari Navy security missions -- will try to decline any that seem to be against Gallente targets in the future.

Right now I'm up near Jitta running missions in 1.0/0.9 space.

I guess that's all long-winded way of saying if I want to focus on turret ships with a side of missiles is Caldari the way to go? And if so any suggestions where to run those missions out of and anything I should focus on doing along with the L1/2 security missions? Even better if I'm missing some really good missions with a faction I'm not considering please let me know.

Thanks for taking the time to read my rambling. :)

As an addendum I have read through the Missions wiki on the EU site. Have been working up some of the social skills as well as my combat/ship skills. So thanks for the webpage, as I wouldn't have thought to put time into learning those.

Edited to add:

Personally I do better when I have a list I can reference and work from. Especially when it comes to a new game, or in this case a game I haven't touched in a decade and even then I really didn't get far.

There's value in running missions for Caldari Navy because it will reduce the fees you pay when interact with the market trade hub in Jita, which owns the trade hub station. So, your initial thought is not a terrible one and could be a good long-term investment of your time.

There are ways to reduce and/or repair your standings with other empires, and being slightly negative with Gallente isn't necessarily the end of the world. But no one will fault you for working for a more local NPC corp to Stacmon.

Thanks Tealson, will keep running them so I can try out some of the Navy version of ships.

I ran 1000 Anomic Burner Missions for Guristas Pirates in Null Security Space, boosted other people's Standings by blitzing L4 Security Missions and had lots of fun in Mission Running Fleets.

If you like flying Ships that use Turrets and Missiles, you'll like Caldari State and Minmatar Republic Ships. Browse Basic Ship and Skill Overview Wiki Pages to learn more.

Run Missions depending on what you want to achieve. Are you a thrill seeker? Increase your Standing with a Pirate Faction! :) Is your home base in the center of Caldari State? Do Missions for them! :)

The overwhelming majority of Missions aren't Corporation or Faction restricted, so don't worry about missing out on a specific Mission.
Instead think about what you want to achieve. Would you like to fly a Supercarrier backed up by a Standing Fleet that can demolish L5 Security Missions in Low Security Space? Do you like flying fast Frigates that can best even the Anomic Burner Missions? Are you a trader that does Missions on the side to reduce their tax rate?

Perhaps you don't know which of these suits you best. That's fine! :) Try them all! :)

If your standing is above -2, you can easily repair it. Just run mission for the "other side".
The 4 (5) trade hubs are all in one of the "Navy" stations, so just run a couple missions for the Federation navy and your Gallente standing should go back up.
See-saw your way back up and you can have a perfect standing with all of the four major factions easily.

The best corp to run missions for is the caldari navy (imho). There might be corps whose LP is worth more ISK, but you will be able to buy and sell slightly cheaper in Jita if you have a high Caldari and a high Caldari Navy standing.

Also, the Sisters of Eve Epic arc gives you 0.8 (or something like that) bonus to one of the 4 major empire standings. I would choose caldari. :)

Thanks for the replies, they've very much appreciated. I think I might shy away from the Pirate factions for now though. :)

I'm ready to do level 2 security missions, have been for a bit, but want to get my Cormorant outfitted decently before starting them.
