Re: Where are you all now?
Just saw this thread. I was only in Uni for just over 2 months before I decided I needed to get blown up hilariously more often without restrictions. I knew I wanted to move to 0.0 so I looked for corps. Found Lovelocke's well written adverts for Enlightened Industries and decided to join up. At that point we were in SpaceMonkeys Alliance up in Fade/PB as part of the Goon/TEST block. About a week after I joined we had a rift with SMA and left the alliance.
After that we moved in with TEST in Fountain, and over the last few months I have been involved tons of smashing victories, hilarious welps, and some close calls. I have lost some ships, killed a lot more. Went from being a totally green player with only a drake and 20 million isk flying out to 0.0 to a billionaire in only a few months (I hate pve, I make all my money off the market).
I would like to reiderate what was said before: If you havent come out to 0.0, please give it a try. This is where EVE is in its purest and most fun form. It may be scary, but if you follow the rule of "only fly what you can afford to lose," you will have tons of fun. I have to add as well, a big part of 0.0 is who you fly with. If you join an alliance that lives in NPC null it can be a really tough experience at first in a very unforgiving environment. If you join an alliance that is in the midst of a failcascade (not going to name names,) then its also going to be hard to get your bearings. If you join an alliance of renters/pets you will also likely get a bad taste in your mouth. Shop around a bit, read up on the forums, look at killboards. As someone coming from Eve Uni, in more cases than not a recruiter will be more relaxed as far as SP and experinece requirements when looking at your application.
Hope some newbies are reading this and not just all you :bittervets:

I went along and joined Goons since a RL friend of mine is in them. I'm enjoying my time in copious amounts of fleet fights, small gang roams, hot drops, and the occasional Incursion. It's a very light hearted place in the middle of very serious business.

What do you mean, "in the midst of?"Dervinus wrote:an alliance that is in the midst of a failcascade
I'll second the move out to nullsec though, be it small gang PvP, soloing or large fleet fights you're into there'll be somewhere in nullsec for you. It's also the most fun I've had since starting eve.

Ended up selling my old characters and started fresh. Run my own corporation now and it's doing very well.

Enlightened Industries. learning how to the PvP works! So far it is HUGE fun, the fleets are a blast, and there is always stuff to do!
