Beam Legion supremacy ftw
Thanks for organising the fleet Gareth, much appreciated as always, just sad that I had to head off before the real fun but as caps died, op success I guess, until next time o7

Thanks much for the fleet Gareth - appreciate the significant preparation that you put into these. Very cool of the goons to provide a fight - was even better since we fought where I make my home.

Aww shucks ma'am, 'tweren't nothing (it was oddly tricky for me cuz dang that inty fit moves fast -- over 5 kps -- and I wasn't quite used to it -- kept overshooting). Our amazing scout aligned perfectly and we warped at him at 100
I was heading to Hek, seeing what was needed in the fleet as things were being called in alliance and when scouts were called and only the mighty Carson spoke up, I knew I had to (sigh, I *still* hate scouting) hop in my dusty inty (though both Setzar Orlenard and Razorien joined in as well -- please put us all on those loverly dragon kills!). Sadly, we didn't find folks who were willing to gudfight (waffles and snuffed obviously were not -- their tears were indeed delicious). And when the fight went down we were keeping eyes out cuz surely somebody was going to 3-way this thang. But nope.
Once again Gareth, fun pew! MOAR!

Hey, you obviously did well, although if you ever want a lesson on interceptors and how to kick [alternate word for posterior] with them, I'm willing to run a lesson on them for a buddy. Just say the word.Coaxster wrote: Aww shucks ma'am, 'tweren't nothing (it was oddly tricky for me cuz dang that inty fit moves fast -- over 5 kps -- and I wasn't quite used to it -- kept overshooting).
Good work to all of you guys. This is the type of PvP I like to see out of the uni.

Thanks for the fleet! Had fun neuting down them archons and it was the first time I flew something as big as a BC in a fleet with the uni. The fleet warps looked boss, it's too bad we couldn't find an ideal fight, but it was still very worthwhile!

Ok; this may sound wanky but listening in on coms (and being part of this fleet) was awesome from a RP point of view. Just the whole coordination of the fleet and break down into various units made one feel like an actual part of something. This especially came through to me when we had to coordinate and escort our Carriers through the jump gates so they were in jump range of UPH. The Carrier leader determining jump fatigue; were they could jump to and from; and where would need escorts to and from. Our FC coordinating the fleet to meet up with the carriers and warping with them to next system before they jumped off.
That was damn cool.
That was damn cool.

Re: [ILN FLEET] Dragons go pop
I'm glad you enjoyed that aspect of it. When I first joined the uni, well over 2 years ago, all coms were split into 2 layers, main mumble and command chat. In the command chat you would have your commanders, scouts and "important people" where they would discus routes, threats, targets and essentially anything interesting. In the main mumble you would have had only directions being told to you and have the dreaded sentence "keep comms clear for command". Obviously this was a hideous thing to be part of if you were not in a command channel as your entire fleet was mostly silence with almost all banter happening in the command clique. Apart from being unbelievably boring, can you imagine this 5 hour fleet being done in almost silence? Plus, it is extremely limiting from a learning experience as all the fun and interesting stuff was hidden from 90% of people.Alto DeRaqwar wrote:Ok; this may sound wanky but listening in on coms (and being part of this fleet) was awesome from a RP point of view. ...........

One of the early things I did as an FC was remove this layer. I only used the layer to speak to an advisor so I didn't come across as lacking knowledge to my fleet mates. Nowadays I think not knowing something and relying on more experienced/specialist members of the fleet is a bonus. FC's should now a bit of everything but in a game like this it is next to impractical to know everything about everything, so now that advisory layer is never used.
It pleases me immensely that the "command channel" or its variations are now extremely rarely used and would ask FC's to continue to only ever use them only if their use is ABSOLUTELY necessary for the fleet to work.
This was a piece of art that a friend did after my first dragon slayer. I am rather please with the connotations that both ships create inside the more liberated minds of some people .Bensen1296 wrote:

It's an Armageddon or ship that shares the hull (BHAALGORN) likely because they make absolutely amazing nuet ships.Bensen1296 wrote:I think that Prophecy is over compensating for something.Gareth Correlian wrote:This was a piece of art that a friend did after my first dragon slayer. The bhaalgorn is the "sword" and Gareth is riding the prophecy. I wasn't calling the bhaalgorn a prophecy btwMatt Mustang wrote: It's an Armageddon or ship that shares the hull (BHAALGORN) likely because they make absolutely amazing nuet ships.

I was on this one as cap auguror. I enjoyed despite the slow start. Gareth is a top FC. Not perfect but get's people in order and takes no nonsense. Much better than being an indecisive wet blanket. Others may disagree!
