[AA] 2019-08-08 BLAP Caracals

Post by Ithugor Wells »

Unfortunately the roam tool is broken until at least tomorrow, so I'll just put the basic results in for now.

Synopsis
Spoiler
Moving towards Thera was rather uneventful. Once in Thera, both my choices of exit holes were effectively closed. We sadly missed the rolling Megathron that was closing one of them.

I had to take several minutes in order to scan down a new hole and we were off once again to horde space, but this time we would have to go down a pipe.

In the pipe, we came across a Vexor Navy Issue that engaged and almost killed our scout. However, once we piled in on it, we made short work of it and even saved our interceptor.

While hanging out on the gate where we just killed the VNI, a Phoenix eventually jumped through (so, good on them for not dropping on us?). I initially warped the fleet to a tac, confirmed range on the Phoenix and then ordered the fleet to scatter.

I ended up hanging out waaay to long in this system despite knowing that they had a bunch of stuff on grid. Our scout died while trying to figure out what was on the other side sadly.

I initially went to jump in for the sake of content. Since we saw stuff on this side, I waited off the side to hope they would engage into us. They did not. I then spent waaay too long sitting in the system not doing anything. In particular, we couldn't catch anything as we had a lack of tackle.

I definitely should have left when we saw them warp to the Ansiblex. Or at least checked where the Ansiblex left (spoilers, it was somewhat on the other side of us).

I then played gate games for a bit (which resulted in us getting nothing). When we went to engage the other side to have a fight, our Sabre got caught so we had to go back and save it. The things engaging it warped off and when a Kikimora landed on us, I asked for bubbles, but was not clear enough that I in particular wanted the Kiki bubbled. Also unfortunately, our Logi was out of position during this and I had them bounce (this was probably the wrong thing to request).

After our logi came back, I asked the bubbler to check what was on the other side of the gate, but they did not know how to use dscan and so I had them check again. However, given what they could tell me, I should have left. Furthermore, I should have paid more attention to my overview and noticed that it was getting really hot and should have left.

At some point, Ged told me to leave immediately but it was sadly too late. Also unfortunately, one of our logi missed the warp and went to the wrong location.

Sadly, my attempt to leave took too long and all but the Sabre got wiped out. During the fight I was mostly calling logi to kill, but I probably should have went for the Sabres (not that it really mattered, but it would have made us a bit more isk positive).
Logi FC AAR
Spoiler
The following is the after action report for the action in Q-TBHW FC was Ithugor Wells and Rogue Ozran was Logi-FC:

on initial contact logi fc (lfc) was caught with bugging/mis-set overview (not sure which)probably lfc's fault but lfc was out of position initially and not communicating properly, after communications was ramped up and overview was fixed the logi wing was able to get in better, if not optimum, position.

as soon as logi was in position Private Martin managed a perch off the gate for the fleet to warop to but due to logi positioning only one logi was abkle to warp to safe forcing the rest of logi squad to bounce to make the perch, but logi wing made it.

after regroup fleet burned to the gate; with to many opponents on gate fc decided to warp to secondary exit wich was camped by all of too many harpies, bubbles where dropped lfc got momentarrily disoriented but regrouped and headed in to fleet to reach position, at this point it was noticed that one of the logi warped off to the wrong position leaving cap chain broken and logi unable to maintain reps on fleet.

logi was focused by the enemy fleet one at a time and podded home.

in addition as we bounced to the son to get back to the perch lfc notcied there was a different ship that had joined fleet later on in a non doctrine logi, this effected the capabilities of the capchaining logi, if this person had joined logi channel in mumble and in game and had been in an osprey the fleet may have survived longer.

thorns:

1) I (lfc) was to nervous, i needed to keep my nerves a little better and when i pulled it in i was able to controll logi wing better

2) dont mess with overview before a fleet

3) communicate with logi wing better, i was to quiet expecting log wing to effectively read my mind.

4) not all logi was in ospreys

buds:

1) positioning got better, can improve and will. the understanding of positioning was made and clicked with me and I was able to start repping fleet.

2) not all logi was in ospreys

roses:

1) lfc learned some positioning lessons

2) lfc realized the necesity of propper communication with the rest of the fleet and logi wing.

3) content was found annd fun was had

I always managed to fleet-warp us at least
Despite having two content wormholes close on us, at least I still managed to find some.
Stayed waaay too long
If I was going to jump into them, I should have done that the very first time
Perhaps I should have told the scouty types (interceptors, interdictors) my preferred tool to use and how to use it
I did not bring enough interceptors
I should have been less lenient with allowing the off-doctrine logi
