[For Fun] What/how do you name your ships?

I thought this would be a more useful introductory post.

As the title says, how do you name your ships?

I've personally tended toward mixing Culture style designations (FP, VFP, DSV, LSV, etc.) with one or two word names that loosely remind me of the ship or its purpose. For example, currently sitting in the Quad in the VFP Bermuda II - it's a Merlin, and if you get the reference, congratulations, you get some Centrum Silver

Out in space I've also seen:

• Default names
• Same as pilot
• Messages

I have to assume some people get creative. I also have to assume that some of those creative people have a really good naming system.

So what do you do?

For Eve Uni ops, or activity at any of the campuses, I follow whatever guidelines that are appropriate to the fleet/location/activity.

When I'm on my own, or on alts.. I range from a series of numbers because I can't be bothered, or historical figures, or sometimes deliberately poor puns.

I try to make something up about their shape.

Imicus -> "Lambda"
Navitas -> "Bubbles"
Velator -> "T-boy"

I normally name my ships with some abbreviation of the corp, then abbreviation of the ship's name, followed by what number ship I am on of that hull.

I try to give names liek

- The Miner
- The Cab
- The Uber
- The Searcher
- The Explorer ....

and give the ship a function. I`ve read somewhere that it might be important for pvp which ship names are used and it has disadvantages to use the player name (Easier to find in fleet battle)

Also A names for a capsuleer might be dangerous in fleets (because it liked to be that they are focused early/primarily) But i don`t know if that is really true.
