Jump Freighter Nomad or Anshar better for low sec / null sec

Post by Etienne Darmond »

Hello Fitting Fanz

I'm looking at training into jump freighter and I am wondering if the fuel efficiency and agility of the Nomad makes it a better vessel for escorted freight jumps in low sec and null sec then say the tankier much slower Anshar.

Please note I'm interested in the context of small gang operations rather than solo or multiboxing freighter / jump freighter ops.

I have experience with high sec hauling, (I follow the basic survival rules for hauling published in eve university wiki, I use an orca hauler and lesser industrials and sunesis for small fast courier). But I have very little experience with null sec roaming pvp and no experience with cyano, jump or even freighter operation in high sec .

In addition to a brief reasoned answer to the above question I'm interested in the reasoned opinion of experienced freighter pilots on the following high sec thinking for freighter choice:

Basically as far as high sec freighters are concerned I've decided on the Gallente Obelisk with 3 bulkheads to beef up the structure. In Hi sec This kind of tank strikes me as giving the longest survivability in the event of getting ganged up upon, giving time for one or two escorting dd to pick off the ganker destroyers / cruisers while the CONCORD timer runs down to burn the pirates' deployed working capital to zero.

Thanks.

Fly safe,
