The combat fit can deal up to 871 dps with wasp IIs and phased plasma M and can perma-rep 1.9k dps vs Serpentis. With it I've made around 12b over 6 months of casually running DED sites I find from exploration. It's enough to comfortably solo EVERY Serpentis DED site nullsec can throw at you while doing most of it afk.

There might initially be slight issues with soloing unrated combat sites such as the Serpentis Logistical Outpost (6/10) or Shadow Serpentis Fleet Staging Point (9/10) due to neuts. But with a bit of experience, those can be quite easy as well. The 6/10 can be well worth it, but the 9/10 is usually a waste of time due to its tediousness.

How most DED sites will go
1. Starting with the travel fit, enter 1st room of DED site.
2. Launch drones, burn to first acceleration gate.
3. Drop mobile depot and MTU, offline MWD for cap and facetank entire room while mobile depot anchors.
4. Refit for combat and continue facetanking and killing rats, feel free to afk until room is clear.
5. Scoop all deployables and head to next room.
6. For all subsequent rooms, just launch drones, slow burn to acceleration gate, drop MTU/depot and kill rats.
7. Finish final room of DED, scoop loot and refit for travel.

-Use wasps for killing rats and Ogres for killing any structures or stations (such as 10/10 final boss).
-If not afking, use the autocannons to shoot any destroyers within 14km and after, any cruisers/battlecruisers within 6km while your drones grind down the battleships further away.
-The 6 warpcore stabs and EM ward field are the last line of defense vs any DED hunters, refit into them along with mobile depot in case you're tackled.
-Don't worry if you don't have enough sp to be cap stable, you can easily pulse your reps as this fit is over-tanked for most sites anyways.
-Don't worry if you don't have HAC V, as long as your drone control range is 60km or above your level in that skill doesn't matter at all.

Cheapening the fit
Typically 8/10s will be what stresses your tank the most due to the last room, unfortunately they're also the most common DED site. There will be a brief period where you'll need around 1.8kdps tank to feel comfortable until you kill off some dps. This means you can safely downgrade the thermal dissipation field from an X-type to A-type to save like 30m but no more than that. If you're willing to use drugs/implants to run DEDs, you can de-bling much further. Play with it on PYFA.

The 7/10 and 10/10 only require about 1.4-1.5k dps tank at most meaning the shield booster can be downgraded all the way to a C-type for these sites.

The unrated 6/10 and 9/10 both have neuts and could potentially require every last bit of tank you have. It's very possible to solo these with a cheaper tank but be prepared to have to warp out multiple times.

Enhancing the fit
The first thing that comes to mind is switching from wasp IIs to augmented wasps. You get a slight dps boost (about 3%) vs Serpentis as a result. Not worth it for me, but maybe it is for you.

Using faction DDAs also gives a slight dps increase.

The Republic Fleet cap battery can be swapped for a Thukker one instead. This grants better neut resist which can help vs 6/10 and 9/10 but you may no longer be cap stable depending on your sp.

You'll get better results with sentries in the DED10/10. To kill the structure pull over 50km range and drop sentries. The station then doesn't rep armor anymore. Sentries should obviously be able to hit at over 50km. For the DED8/10 put drones on station then pull over 120km range and the station starts to aggro the drones and stops armor repping. You can pull into your targeting range again to see how long until it dies.

For the travel fit add a probe launcher and you can directly scan the sites.

DED8/10 are not more common a priory but people leave them usually alone so you'll find more of them.

It's still faster to finish DED 10/10s with heavies as you can glitch the armor reps with them as well. Just leave them on the structure and pull range over 50km after refitting to mwd to glitch out armor reps, make sure the station has you aggroed when doing this. A flight of Ogre IIs deals 797 dps while a flight of Garde IIs deals 571 dps so it's clear to see which one's the better choice here.

Here's a video showing the glitch with heavies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QMP7Ar9LvL0

The probe launcher on the travel fit can be a good idea but I usually bring out my Ishtar only after I've found a DED site from regular exploration in my covert ops. You'll probably get more done by scanning with a covert ops and then reshipping into an Ishtar should you need it due to how much faster travelling/scanning is with a covert ops.
