Retribution

Post by White 0rchid »

Standard armor AF fleet. With an MWD you don't get much room to do other stuff with these. You can change to an AB and then fit T2 scram and plate if it's a slow fleet.

There are many other 'solo' fits, but you are always hampered by your 2 mids, same as the wolf. The kiting fit doesn't work quite as well on an retri as it does on a wolf either. This one can KINDA work, but it's not that great tbh. You have immense tank and can project your damage fairly far. Many people can run away from you though.

Let's see if better fits can be made with ADC? Please post suggestions.

The main solo/small gang Retribution fit these days takes advantage of the capacitor/speed buffs instead of the ADC. The properly blingy version, which is used with links and usually a set of Snakes, is here. Downgrading is easy - AAR, non-bling long point, restrained MWD.

MWD Retributions have become increasingly popular nullsec ships recently, and are used with Magi and Deacons.

The most common solo/small gang Retribution has become this:
Spoiler
[Retribution, Retribution - Beam Dual HS Dual Nano]

Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste
Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Heat Sink II
Extruded Compact Heat Sink

5MN Quad LiF Restrained Microwarpdrive
Initiated Compact Warp Disruptor

Small Focused Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Ultraviolet S
Small Focused Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Ultraviolet S
Small Focused Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Ultraviolet S
Small Focused Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Ultraviolet S
[Empty High slot]

Small Energy Collision Accelerator I
Small Energy Metastasis Adjuster II
This fit has very good dps, reasonable speed and agility, and decent tank. Basically a Slicer but better.

The an example of a very blingy but extremely survivable Retribution:
Spoiler
[Retribution, Retribution - Absurdly Good Bling]

Coreli A-Type Small Armor Repairer
True Sansha Heat Sink
Heat Sink II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

Coreli A-Type 5MN Microwarpdrive
Shadow Serpentis Warp Disruptor

Small Focused Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Xray S
Small Focused Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Xray S
Small Focused Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Xray S
Small Focused Beam Laser II, Imperial Navy Xray S
[Empty High slot]

Small Energy Locus Coordinator II
Small Energy Metastasis Adjuster II
When used with HG Snakes, these can remain on field even with the DPS of several carriers against them. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6-Cks0M0kA for confirmation)

Agree with double-nano fit, though I would use fit with ADC: extra 15s can help a lot. Yes, you lose 18% DPS, but depending on a doctrine and type of the fleet it is a good trade-off.

See more on this fit in AAR on fleet where I've met it: https://forum.eveuniversity.org/viewtop ... 6&t=109530 and bling version of the fit: https://zkillboard.com/kill/69678523/

ADC isn't a viable option for the double Nano fit. It doesn't match the play style.

I agree with Biwako on this one. If you have to use the SAAR + ADCU, you're already screwed. You could even remove both modules for even more speed/agility and mind your piloting.

Piloting is not enough in most small gang scenarios. The SAAR (or blingy SAR) plays a crucial role when you're holding tackle for a gang, which is the most common use case for these Retributions lately.

(If you're solo, the SAAR is even more important - you don't want to give up a kill because you're low. Piloting only gets you the ability to successfully disengage from a fight, not to get a kill when you don't do enough DPS to kill a bad guy before your zero-tanked ship dies from weapons with better application than you can mitigate.)

It has higher DPS at the same range by allowing usage of shorter range ammo.

Armor Kiting Fleet (Raido's nul-sec roam):
Spoiler

400mm Rolled Tungsten Compact Plates
Assault Damage Control II
Heat Sink II

[Empty High slot]

Small Anti-Thermal Pump II
Small Trimark Armor Pump II

Gleam S x4
Aurora S x4
Imperial Navy Xray S x4
Imperial Navy Standard S x4
Nanite Repair Paste x100
And before posting low-sec Brawly Fleet fit I'd like to ask: how that should work? With AB and Pulse you can pretty much only engage on gates or on plexes, if opponents does not 'wait' for you or kite - you will lose. For a year I saw none AB brawly fits... If it is AB than it is long range.
Please help understanding how to fly this Raido.
Thanks!

Just realized, that Retribution nano fit has lock range (50km) lesser than aurora optimal (62.8km). With that I'd replace 1 Locus with Ion Field Projector. This will bring lock range up to 65km and reduces optimal down to 53.5km.

Does this make sense? Or better fit DPS rig?

Re: Retribution

Doesn't really matter, the nano Retribution is usually meant to engage things within its point range. If you're in a small gang environment where you might want to use Aurora optimal, it's not hard to bring info links to fill that gap.

As for the questions about lowsec brawling, I've explained before that our lowsec brawling AFs involve a small number of boosting/booshing command destroyers, so we don't really worry about being kited. If we don't like our engagement we just boosh out; if we think we can boosh into someone, we also have that option.
