Re: Punisher

I'll start with a PvE Punisher which an Alpha should be able to fly. Almost cap stable, but I'm not sure if the reps will be enough for Lvl 1 missions. But with this fit, a player should feel a significant improvement with every skill level upgrade:

SPOILER WARNING!
  Code:
[Punisher, PvE lowskill]

IFFA Compact Damage Control
Prototype Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I
'Refuge' Adaptive Nano Plating I
Extruded Compact Heat Sink
Small Automated Carapace Restoration

1MN Y-S8 Compact Afterburner
Optical Compact Tracking Computer, Tracking Speed Script

Dual Modulated Light Energy Beam I, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S

Small Capacitor Control Circuit I

And here are two solo PvP fits inspired by Kelon's guide:

SPOILER WARNING!
  Code:
[Punisher, Brawling PvP lowskill]

Damage Control I
400mm Rolled Tungsten Compact Plates
Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste
Heat Sink I
Heat Sink I

1MN Y-S8 Compact Afterburner
Initiated Compact Warp Scrambler

Dual Anode Pulse Particle Stream I, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S

Small Processor Overclocking Unit I
Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Small Trimark Armor Pump I

  Code:
[Punisher, Brawling PvP highskill]

Damage Control II
400mm Rolled Tungsten Compact Plates
Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II

1MN Afterburner II
Warp Scrambler II

Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Conflagration S
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Conflagration S
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Conflagration S
Dual Light Pulse Laser II, Conflagration S

Small Processor Overclocking Unit I
Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Small Trimark Armor Pump I

Especially with the lowskill (=new charcter) fit, I'm wondering whether the SAAR should be replaced with a different module, as it is very expensive compared to the hull and the remaining modules.

Re: Punisher

Another interesting variations would be the Bait Punisher. Send it alone to a plex, get tackle, call fleet in, win.

Re: Punisher

A fleet buffer fit.
Fits for an Amarr newbro.
Tackle mod can be swapped out for taste.
You can just about squeeze in a membrane instead of the plating but it's the highest resist anyway and gives a bit more room if the rest of the fit isn't 'just so'.

  Code:
[Punisher, FD: Newbro Fleet buffer]

400mm Rolled Tungsten Compact Plates
Damage Control I
Extruded Compact Heat Sink
Extruded Compact Heat Sink
Prototype Thermal Plating I

1MN Y-S8 Compact Afterburner
Initiated Compact Warp Scrambler

Dual Modulated Light Energy Beam I
Dual Modulated Light Energy Beam I
Dual Modulated Light Energy Beam I
Dual Modulated Light Energy Beam I

Small Anti-Explosive Pump I
Small Anti-Kinetic Pump I
Small Processor Overclocking Unit I

Imperial Navy Multifrequency S x4
Imperial Navy Ultraviolet S x4
Imperial Navy Microwave S x4

And a Fleet Buffer fit for higher skill players.
I've tried the above newbro fit as just this one meta'd down, but you end up with a massive thermal hole.
  Code:
[Punisher, FD: Fleet Buffer]

400mm Crystalline Carbonide Restrained Plates
Heat Sink II
Heat Sink II
Damage Control II
Co-Processor II

1MN Y-S8 Compact Afterburner
Warp Scrambler II

Dual Light Beam Laser II
Dual Light Beam Laser II
Dual Light Beam Laser II
Dual Light Beam Laser II

Small Anti-Explosive Pump I
Small Anti-Kinetic Pump I
Small Trimark Armor Pump I

Re: Punisher

Geez, dat instaundock fit.... not usable for new players, which should actually be the point of an insta undock fit.
Sure, you can squeeze that oversized MWD on your frig/destroyer but as burning the bookmark can be done AFK in highsec(with an alt, the whole point of having a simple fit), it's ridicioulus overfitted.
I'd go for
  Code:
[Punisher, Punisher - InstaUndockMaker]

Overdrive Injector System II
Overdrive Injector System II
Overdrive Injector System II
Overdrive Injector System II
Overdrive Injector System II

5MN Quad LiF Restrained Microwarpdrive
[Empty Med slot]

[Empty High slot]
[Empty High slot]
[Empty High slot]
[Empty High slot]

[Empty Rig slot]
[Empty Rig slot]
[Empty Rig slot]

You can sell all of it, it's fast, it's capstable.. does it need more? It's also cheap. :p

Re: Punisher

Neonen's InstantUndockMaker is definitely better, but I don't think that either of them should be put up. It's a bit niche, and frankly InstantUndocks these days with the larger grids should be so much further off that AFK is the only real way to do it anyway.

Re: Punisher

I agree, the best you can do is tell them how to fit an undock maker and how to align properly.. and then how to go AFK for 1-2 hours. We can throw both undock makers into the trashcan.

Re: Punisher

Do punishers see much use as fleet DPS aside from new pilots? Is there a place for projectile, neut or hard tackle fits in the wiki fits? Seems to be their most common uses past Amarr beginner pilot phase.

Re: Punisher

Hard tackle is a good idea. I think the others are a bit specific, and if needed, the fits would be provided in the relevant doctrine post.

Re: Punisher

Problem with the Punisher is always the two midslots, which doesn't give you room for propmod + scram + web.

We could argue about it all day, and frankly it's up to the FC, but for this fit I went for Warp Disruptor and MWD as the worst case scenario from a fitting point of view. Notes should indicate that they could be swapped out for MWD and Scram, AB and Scram, or even a no-prop scram+web:

I've played with a few different tank variants, and what I've ended up with below (lots of meta modules) is actually the most tank I could give it (11.3k EHP). The DC can become a T2 if you've got perfect fitting skills (and then it's a perfect fit on CPU :D ), or a compact for slightly more EHP (11.7k) but the compact almost doubles the cost of the ship so I've left it at T1.

  Code:
[Punisher, FD: Hard Tackle]

400mm Crystalline Carbonide Restrained Plates
Damage Control II
Prototype Energized Explosive Membrane I
Prototype Energized Kinetic Membrane I
Prototype Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I

5MN Y-T8 Compact Microwarpdrive

Re: Punisher

  • Punisher: PvE - Newbie
    • General Comments:
      • Change 1MN Y-S8 Compact Afterburner to 1MN Monopropellant Enduring Afterburner to make it cap stable for new Amarr player
      • Change Prototype Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I to a second 'Refuge' Adaptive Nano Plating I because its better (by .4% without factoring in skills)
      • Change Small Automated Carapace Restoration to Small 'Accommodation' Vestment Reconstructer I because it heals slightly more and there is more volume of these on the market
      • I think IFFA Compact Damage Control might be a bit pricey for new players. We could downgrade to Damage Control I at the cost of 0.13k EHP on Kinetic resistance hole to 3.03k. More than the slightly improved resists from a 1.5M module the fit stands to benefit from more EHP by switching an armor resistance module to 200mm Crystalline Carbonide Restrained Plates.
      • Need to add charges.
So in all would just recommend below fit but I'm not an expert at PVE with a Punisher. In all it turns out to be cheaper
      SPOILER WARNING!
        Code:
      [Punisher, *PvE - Newbie]

      Damage Control I
      'Refuge' Adaptive Nano Plating I
      'Refuge' Adaptive Nano Plating I
      Extruded Compact Heat Sink
      Small 'Accommodation' Vestment Reconstructer I

      1MN Monopropellant Enduring Afterburner
      Optical Compact Tracking Computer

Dual Modulated Light Energy Beam I
Dual Modulated Light Energy Beam I
Dual Modulated Light Energy Beam I
Dual Modulated Light Energy Beam I

      Small Capacitor Control Circuit I
      Small Capacitor Control Circuit I
      Small Capacitor Control Circuit I

      Microwave S x4
      Standard S x4
      Multifrequency S x4

    • Notes:
      • Faction frequency crystals, like Imperial Navy Multifrequency S, can be used to improve DPS but the crystals deteriorate with use.
      • Swap a plate Prototype Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I ( or 'Refuge' Adaptive Nano Plating I on recommended fit) for 200mm Crystalline Carbonide Restrained Plates for increased EHP at the cost of some maneuverability.

  • Punisher: Gang PvP - Newbie
    • General Comments:
      • There was enough Calibration room to insert another Armor Rig
      • An alternative to plugging the resistance hole is to Trimark Pump the buffer. Since armor rigs carry the same drawbacks we end up with more EHP overall and more importantly +372 ehp on the Explosive resistance hole at no extra cost.
      • There can be room to adjust the plate from 400mm Rolled Tungsten Compact Plates to 400mm Crystalline Carbonide Restrained Plates for improved maneuverability
      • Add Charges
Overall these are the optimizations I'd recommend to the fit:
      SPOILER WARNING!
        Code:
      [Punisher, *Gang PvP - Newbie]

      400mm Crystalline Carbonide Restrained Plates
      Damage Control I
      Extruded Compact Heat Sink
      Extruded Compact Heat Sink
      'Refuge' Adaptive Nano Plating I

      1MN Y-S8 Compact Afterburner
      Initiated Compact Warp Scrambler

Dual Modulated Light Energy Beam I
Dual Modulated Light Energy Beam I
Dual Modulated Light Energy Beam I
Dual Modulated Light Energy Beam I

      Small Trimark Armor Pump I
      Small Trimark Armor Pump I
      Small Trimark Armor Pump I

      Microwave S x4
      Standard S x4
      Multifrequency S x4

    • Notes:
      • Tracking issues can reduce damage application. Try to mitigate with effective piloting.
      • Upgrading to faction frequency crystals like, Imperial Navy Multifrequency S, are recommended when affordable.
      • Carry some Nanite Repair Paste to repair heat damage after overheating modules. The opportunity to dock up may not come often enough in hostile space.

  • Punisher: Gang PvP - Advanced
    • Notes:
      • Tracking issues can reduce damage application. Try to mitigate with effective piloting.
      • Carry some Nanite Repair Paste to repair heat damage after overheating modules. The opportunity to dock up may not come often enough in hostile space.

  • Punisher: Fleet PvP - Advanced
    • General Comments:
      • This fit has too many variations that can be considered niche. We can improve EHP and fitting for this one by focusing on buffer again since we've already committed to 3 armor rigs.
        SPOILER WARNING!
          Code:
        [Punisher, *Fleet PvP - Advanced]

        400mm Steel Plates II
        Damage Control II
        'Refuge' Adaptive Nano Plating I
        'Refuge' Adaptive Nano Plating I
        Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II

        5MN Microwarpdrive II
        Warp Disruptor II

        [Empty High slot]
        [Empty High slot]
        [Empty High slot]
        [Empty High slot]

        Small Trimark Armor Pump I
        Small Trimark Armor Pump I
        Small Trimark Armor Pump I

We squeeze out more EHP and have enough fitting space for better modules. A max Amarr Alpha clone pilot can meta the plates and EANM to fly the ship without fitting issues.
    • Notes
      • Carry some Nanite Repair Paste to repair heat damage after overheating modules. The opportunity to dock up may not come often enough in hostile space.
      • T2 Armor Rigs are expensive but adds 1.8k EHP to improve survivability while holding tackle.

Re: Punisher

Let's try to keep T1 frigate fits alpha capable for not-super-advanced fittings. (e.g. Punisher - Advanced hulls)

All newbie recommendations made are usable by new Amarr pilots even considering fitting costs from changes mentioned in notes (although now not many)

EHP is not an overly relevant measure for local tanked fits. Stick to EHP/sec if alpha is not an issue (PvE).

OK, will keep in mind for future fits. The recommendation I made does increase EHP/sec but not by too much. Selling point for my recommendation is that it gets these minor increases by being almost half the price of the current fit and without creating fitting hassles for new Amarr pilots.

Do we really want a gun rig on the gang fit over a third armor rig?

Yea, on second thought its not that big an improvement flying with beam lasers in scram range ( 5 - 10 DPS when tracking is a factor or straight 10 dps increase while retaining tracking issues.) Changing recommendation to Armor rig to fill the spare Calibration. DPS on Punisher with Energy weapons is not going to be great anyways.

Swapping to pulse does not combine well with fitting a point. If you're in pulse range, you're in scram range.

My idea was to point out how to fit a point on this fit as a newbro. I guess that would be about as clear as the last sentence. Scratching it.

Edit: Clarification
