[Pre-Citadel] Capital Ship fittings - dreadnought edition

With the changes to Capital Ships in the Citadel expansion, all fits in this thread should be considered outdated. This thread serves as a historical document of a fitting meta long gone. Refer to this thread for fittings after the Citadel expansion.

There are a two relevant types of Dreadnought fitting:
Blap Dreads - Designed to have very high tracking in order to hit subcapital ships for monstrous damage. Require proper support (webs + painters) to work well, but are an enormous asset if used properly.
Fleet Dreads - Designed to kill opposing capital ships. This typically means that you forgo tracking modules to increase your tank.

No fits are provided for the Revelation because it's flat out worse than the other dreads. Don't train for a Revelation.

Notes for all fits:
SPOILER WARNING!
- You are flying a capital ship. This means that, in most situations, you will have a friendly carrier that you can refit on the fly off of. Your fitting should be in flux and adjusted on the fly to suit the current situation.
- If you are not being shot, remove tank and add damage modules.
- If you are being shot, remove damage modules and add tank if necessary.
- All fits here very much appreciate further ISK investment into higher-meta modules. Deadspace resist modules can amplify your tanking capabilities incredibly well, especially for shield fits.
- Capital modules' meta level can be adjusted to suit your budget. Note that your primary role is that of a damage dealer, and meta guns are a very noticable improvement over T1 variants.

Re: Dreadnought Fittings

If you are flying a dread into pvp use the best ammo possible, regardless of price.

A naglfar should be using domination emp xl for it's 20% more dps.

Re: Dreadnought Fittings

Yes, of course. EMP XL is the default selection in EFT (which I didn't remember to change).
Fixed.

PS: It's actually Arch Angel EMP XL. Domi EMP XL doesn't exist.

Ah nope, Domination XL ammo is on the market but it just doesn't show up in EFT

Re: Dreadnought Fittings

Kriegs original fits are for K-space use and pretty much cheep and you expect to lose them when you drop them type thing. The Nag that Titus posted is much more what you would expect to see in WH space PvP where the number of pilots is limited etc and I would be surprised if a dread blinged to those levels was ever used by the Uni in K-Space.

Below are two Blinged shield WH PvP dreads.
An example of a HardKnocks Nag that was killed.

This thing has 39hp/s tank with strong blue pill, boosts, and pre OH. With heat that number hits 62kehp/s. Though with the amount of bling that is on it you are unlikely to see this dropped in K-space ;)

Something similar can be done with the Moros:

31k ehp/s tank with Strong Blue pill, 50k ehp/s with heat.

Always use faction ammo, always take drugs.

Off topic but about the ammo its possible that the Dominion ammo is in the database but does not drop. That would explain its listing in the market and it not appearing in EFT.

Re: Dreadnought Fittings

The one I posted is pretty low bling tbh.
Only like 500m or so fittings.

PS: It needs at least some of the gyros to be faction to fit on CPU (unless you have an implant for that).

Re: Dreadnought Fittings

Contrary to the original post the Phoenix isn't the worst, at the moment that honour falls to the Revelation. The damage projection and application is just fine when used against its intended target, Sieged or Triaged capital ships, recent testing has shown that a well fitted Phoenix can tank up to 5 Naglfars for its entire Siege cycle, in response even a Swaglfar has a hard time tanking more than 3 dreads.

Never use the Phoenix to shoot subcaps, even against webbed and target painted Battleships it's just not worth the hassle.

As an update to KP's fits stolen from HK (which are in turn old Lead Farmers fits), I present the

Cap pilots should have clones specific to their Dreads, 5% Surgical Strike is pretty standard.

Shouldn't the Phoenix be updated now since the addition of missile guidance comupters/enhancers?

Holy shit, give it some time for the fits to shake out. Day 1 fits are just EFT warrior'd theorycraft nonsense. Wait and see what gets whelped.

Re: Capital Ship fittings - dreadnought edition

Yeah, I think I've heard talk from various groups, the Phoenix certainly is more viable than before, in fact I got dread blapped by a Phoenix prior to the changes so they certainly can look at T3 and even Logi blapping now without great difficulty. That said, it's all just theory for now.

I assume all the BLAP dread fits in here are useless now with the new high-angle Dread guns?

Yeah, all fits in here (and the carrier thread) are outdated with the capital changes. Updated OP to reflect.
