After a very long formup (see below), we yeeted into Pochven and immediately landed in a spicy situation with an Observatory Flashpoint fleet. We dodged them successfully and killed a Sabre which was bait for a bombing run that killed far more of us.

What went well

What could have gone better

• Formup was extremely slow again. This time, we had many players who could not fly anything on the doctrine I called, so we spent a lot of time deliberating, only to put them in Merlins and Scythes anyway. We also had to switch from Arty to Auto Hurricanes as we didn't have numbers for alpha strike.
• New players kind of got dragged along as I finally pushed the fleet into space, only to be dropped into the action immediately. I want new folks to see action, but it's good to have at least a couple peaceful jumps to get adjusted.
• The Canes weren't great for the targets we were fighting. I needed more range.

Overall, the biggest thing I want to do differently next time is fly a doctrine that's new player friendly in hopes of reducing formup time and getting new folks into something they're at least somewhat familiar with. Of course, this conflicts with my desire to fly fancy expensive stuff, so we'll have to see what kind of mixed doctrine I can come up with...
