TL;DR - Despite not having a proper QRF formed in AMY, we were lucky and killed a Gila WT, for the loss of a Slasher and an Astero.
steve boses (Hog Hitmen - https://zkillboard.com/character/93243818/) turned up in JUF and was tracked to AMY, whereupon he docked up. Various people on the HSC Mumble channel went looking for him and we found him at Amygnon VI - Moon 1 - Garoun Investment Bank Vault. It wasn't clear if he was going to actively cause trouble, so we didn't immediately form a full QRF. I remained docked up there to keep an eye on him.
- * A couple of minutes later he undocked and attacked Bruice Almighting in his Asteros just next to the station - https://zkillboard.com/kill/79957276/.
* I also undocked, saw he was ongrid and got a point and scram on him in my Slasher, surviving just long enough - https://zkillboard.com/kill/79957294/
* The rest of the crew warped in and finished the job - https://zkillboard.com/kill/79957317/.

Evaluation:
+ Once I called out I had tackle, the immediate response from Unistas to warp in and help was awesome.
+ There's sufficient combat-ready experience and ships in AMY that even without a formal QRF and FC, we can self-organize on the fly to kill single WTs.
+ Opportunistic tackling can therefore work as a tactic. I wasn't expecting him on-grid, and the decision to tackle was spur-of-the moment. I survived long enough. For discussion: Would a policy of "tackle now, QRF later" work for AMY and JUF on single-WTs, to encourage Unistas to create a more contested environment?
- After calling out I had tackle, I should have explicitly asked people to warp to me. I think many people warped to the station, which put them a bit out.
