[AAR] HYPERKITTENS!!!11!!11!!!!

hey guys sorry this took so long, but here is the AAR for the Hyperkittens

engagement one) fight against Ged Sinak:

So ged offered to give me an arranged fight against his Hyperion, he asked for two things, no jams and no podding...So i didn't communicate the no jams fast or clear enough so he got permajammed for a bit of the fight, hyper kittens are cancer, we cleared jams but i think it was to late and Ged's Hype was toast, it was a good fight and he took several of us with him.

Engagemnet two) the run from the Cynabals

after we had fought Ged I started to bring the fleet back towards the originally planned route heading towards tama to have some fun and try to get some kills, though there was a fleet of cynabals that had a diffrent idea, they where scouted by a pair of Garmours and a kikimora, which is what i saw first and I thought we would get a good fight, i was wrong, when the overview started filling up with cynabals all over the place I ordered a scatter and regoup on the gate to minimize loss and continue on for good fights, the problem was, we where very scattered and reshipping at the time so the fleet was all over null sec, at this point a few people dropped fleet but not many and I believe i lost a couple ships to the cynabal fleet, though i can track down who, I did manage to get the bulk of the fleet out of the area relatively unscathed. I was heading the fleet with some efficient speed to Tama to make a bit of trouble and we had a couple ok targets, but nothing good to take down so we ended up in Tama.

Engagement three) the fight with the Brutix Navy Issue
as we jumped into tama there was a small fleet of cerberus's that was not aggressing but was flashy, i was hesitant to engage but we played some chicken locking them up but not shooting, as we were playing games with them a BNI came onto the scene and we brought them into the games, the Cerberus' left through the gate and we stayed there staring at the brutix for a moment, then I messaged him and challenged him to a fight at the sun, he didnt want to do it there for some reason but ended up aggressing one of our guys and we where able to open up on him with gate guns on our side, we brought his shields down quick, then the armour, darn, he is hull tanked, no big surprise there, so we continued to plod through his hull and lost some folks, the cerbs showed up again and I'm not 100% but they may have aggressed us at that point, but if they did it din't matter because we took down the brutix and i called scatter again, we regrouped and reshipped, the doctrine was thrown out for a number for coercers and the pilot of the BNI wanted another fight, so i Obliged.

Engagement Four) the VNI and the whelp

So I continued on to regroup and get the fleet ready to fight archer and He told me where he was, right off of the NPC station, i know this was likely to be our last stand and good fight for the night so i wanted to try and take the VNI and nothing else, at least tahts what was agreed on, but archer brought out an execurer to help him rep, we would crack his tank and then bam, he would be healed again, so there came a point in the fight that i didnt see it as tenable, the cerberus fleet was taking pot shots at us and taking us out faster then the VNI was so it quickly became obvious that we wouldnt be winning this engagement, i called for scatter and folded the fleet there, many of my pilots had been podded home, more yet, including me where headed home via the pod express and a small few where going to travel home.

Hello Rogue, thanks for the AAR and for taking us out!

The fleet formup was quite fast and the movement was good, the few straglers found their way to the fleet quite easily.

As for the fights, I think we need to improve on 3 areas:

1)Explaining more losec mechanics before fights, as we had some newbros die to gateguns during engagements, in a way that could have been avoided.

2)Baiting at the sun and then abandoning the grid with relative delay. In my opinion, if we want to bait, we can do it in a plex, which at least offers us the possibility to control range on the gate. The sun means our fleet is FFA to third parties and the garmur dictated the range as it wished. Also, after we took the engagement and we were on-grid, I think we could have done more damage and at least take down one cruiser or two, since we already had drones out and were locking.

3)The VNI engagement in my opinion was approached badly. We already knew the target had other friends in HACs, we engaged on a station, and worst of all, we showed no flexibility at all. Tunnel vision on bringing down the VNI when they had a t1 logi cruiser(soft target) resulted in them having a fight exactly as they were prepared to do. Going in with the mentality that "we are ISK positive and we can make all the mistakes we want" is not great for learning and improving our skills. Also, the FC has to be more vocal during the fights, there were long breaks in the middle of combat where the fleet was left either idling or free firing...

Still, with a bit of practice and experience, the next fleet is going to be better :)

thanks Yto i appreciate the critiques!

everything you said was correct, I would like to say on the third point though, the engagement with the VNI i had only communicated that the vni was target and i didn't want to go outside of that for what i had agreed on, and it went a little upside down on me, I will admit i could have handled that differently but i was trying to take down the VNI as i had agreed with the pilot, who never mentioned logi, or more friends helping, i probably would have taken the execuror at that point or not warped in if i had known is friends in the HAC's where there still.
