[AAR] Short notice Kitchen Sink Frigates 2019.3.12 @ 19:00

Post by B'aldrick Aivoras »

Real Life prevented me from scheduling a EUTZ fleet until the last minute so I called for a kitchen sink frigate roam in the usual areas. We needed to be quick as many pilots wanted to go on a solitude event that we later learnt was postponed. I wanted to still get into novices in a mixed tank fleet so rein in people wanting to bring T2 frigates.

We had 3-4 pilots new to fleets and PvP so we went through a newbro speech. Mike kindly did this as a tried to sort out some choppy mumble issues.

There are only really 2 engagements that I think worth mentioning as the other kills and losses were just ganks in plexes.

The first started as gank on an Algos in a small where scout and vanguard were sent in to get tackle. When the rest of the fleet was called in and landing a flashy Retribution. It was tempting but I didn't want to leave my scouts and vanguard hanging as an Algos can be quite tanky and it's drones can do serious damage. I ordered everyone to take the acceleration gate. Unfortunately, we lost our griffin pilot to the retribution before he could slide.

Once the Algos was down, I had us warp to the nearest celestial (sun) at 1.1AU and then warp back at differing ranges to grab the Retribution. By doing this we were able to snag the Retribution to avenge our EWAR. A flashy Confessor warp at 100km into us. It smelt like bait and I thought it would kite away and snipe us so didn't want to go for it. The fleet was blood-thirsty so wanted to have a go! Just then a flashy Punisher landed and was called primary followed by a Caracal. We switched to the Caracal managing to take down the Punisher as we switched. The Confessor started engaging us as well. We couldn't break the tank of the caracal so I called scatter.

We lost a few pilots but still had an effective composition to try a few ganks. Baiting in a plex failed to produce any joy whilst people reshipped. As time was marching on for the solitude fleet to start, we started to make our way back via Agidagi. As we waited on the Kedama gate in Tama, the same Punisher pilot brought another one into us and engaged us. Well gate guns can be your friends as all we had to do was hold him for the guns to assist us as our suspect timers were expired. The same Caracal pilot jumped in from Kedama and kindly sacrificed himself with gate gun support as well. As their friends rejoined them scatter was called as myself and a few other fell foul to their QRF. GFs were once agains said in local

I grabbed a corvette and our sorry bunch headed towards Ichoryia to reship and then made our way home.

It was a fun short roam and we managed to get a couple of nice skirmishes that showed the benefit of tactical positioning for warp in and the effects of engaging non-flashies on gate. Thanks for coming.

Thanks Shauny -I’ll have a look at it on the big screen tomorrow- not sure what my mumble issues were but will try some things out to see if they improve for the next one.

Thanks for the recording and coming along o7

Was good fun flying a Maulus after a long time. Sadly had to bail out halfway through the fleet!

The post-Algos engagement against the confessor&co was worth taking imho. Not only was i bloodthirsty enough for it but FFC rules state:
If not sure about an engagement:

That beign said I remember you saying it would be bait and basicly forseeing the engagement like it happend and I myself reminded you of our ewar/damps which MIGHT play in this. So it was a bit my fault i fear ;)

As always: fun flying with you (and the others of course) and a kitchen sink has its own charms (even though no logi love). Especially think its great for you to come online and go "there is no fleet tonight? -> fixed!" o7
