Kills and Losses

The wormhole chain to J121745 was marked, Bombers Bar ships were pre-stationed at each wormhole in the chain to guide pilots from high security space to the staging system of the Bombers Bar. The FC wanted the fleet to form up quickly, assigned a fifteen minute timer, and directed all pilots to hustle it to J121745.

Bombers Bar staged a Rorqual and Procurer fleet at a belt. A DARKNESS fleet of thirteen carriers and seven Titans landed on grid and engaged the Rorqual and Procurers. The Rorqual activated its Pulse Activated Nexus Invulnerability Core module. The Rorqual and fleet of Procurers and the fleet cyno were protected. The Titan fleet could not harm them. For seven minutes. Bubbles went up, the cyno was activated, the Bombers Bar fleet bridged in and engaged targets.

Local increased to 800 pilots. There was a time delay. Initiative ships landed at the belt to protect DARKNESS. One of the titans activated a Boson and destroyed the first wave of bombers that landed on grid. The FC was out of the fight. Secondary FC took command of the fleet. Black Legion Muninns arrived on grid and destroyed fighters. Pandemic Legion and Pandemic Horde arrived on grid and engaged the Initiative and Darkness ships. The Bombers Bar FC directed the fleet to make Black Legion, Pandemic Legion, and Pandemic Horde ships BLUE and not to shoot them. A DARKNESS Revelation, Thanatos, and Chimera were destroyed. DPS was focused on the DARKNESS Erebus. DPS switched momentarily to a Phoenix, down to armor, but the Erebus was a better kill, thus the fleet moved all dps back onto the Erebus. DARKNESS and Initiative fighters were destroyed by the opposing Black Legion Muninns and Pandemic Legion and Horde support fleets. The three supporting corps on grid cleared a path for Bombers Bar torpedoes. The Erebus ehp declined.

The 89.8 billion isk Erebus and 8.3 billion isk pod were destroyed. The bait Rorqual fleet was destroyed. The other Titans cleared grid. The Avatar was able to move out if its bubble and left grid. The fleets ended after a time and warped off. First, second, and third FCs were destroyed and the first FC did his best to move the fleet remotely.

A pilot in fleet was discovered streaming live on Twitch with no time delay. The stream was live over the course of the entire fleet roam. The FC directed that pilot to set his/her Twitch stream to 15 minutes, for security, to allow the fleet time to destroy targets before spies and hostile ships arrive.

A group of Rorquals were at a belt, guarded by a Titan fleet at a ping 100km away. Bombers Bar jumped onto the Rorquals and applied damage. The fleet warped off. One Rorqual slowly burned back toward the nearby structure. Fleet eyes on the Rorqual reported its bubble wavering. The fleet warped back to one of the cloaked hunters near the retreating Rorqual's posiiton. The fleet uncloaked and applied damage. The Rorqual lured the fleet 150km away from the Titan. The Titan warped to the Rorqual and engaged the fleet.

A pilot in fleet failed to cloak due to being afk or disconnected. To protect the fleet, the FC ordered an engagement on that pilot's bomber. Voice comms became cluttered with pilots who did not know how to awox (destroy a member in the fleet) a fleet member and veteran pilots telling everyone to shoot the Purifier and warp off. Seconds were lost and the fleet warped off as a Jackdaw fleet landed on top of the Bombers last position.

Overall evaluation
  • (Positive stuff)
Bombers Bar fleet pilots on the Erebus killmail received a TeamSpeak Titan badge.

Space Warfare Development's Ammo expended: Erebus:
57 Nova Rage Torpedoes expended with overload, warp-off and cloak times.
470 Nanite Paste expended repairing overheated launchers and side modules.
    Agency 'Pyrolancea' DB9 Dose IV

    (Negative stuff)
Space Warfare Development's bomber was destroyed due to bad positioning and bad timing. Space was already on grid cloaked on the Rorqual's right side, while the warp-in for the fleet was on the Rorqual's left side. Space broke the warp-out alignment to align towards the Rorqual to launch a focused void bomb. A hit from the Titan sent shields out. Space realigned and took two more hits before warp out. Structure was at zero, the ship was seen warping out, but the ship was destroyed upon landing. Space's ship was destroyed and spent the remainder of the fleet time focused on finding a way out from Goons space to high-sec. Space was not able to record the remainder of the fleet operation.
    Spoiler
Recommend remove dampening scripts, or add LFT Enduring Sensor Dampener/Kapteyn Compact Sensor Dampener.
The Mar5hy-Armada/Mar5hy-Armada-Bombers/ ManticoreT1,ManticoreT1,PurifierT1 fittings had a Scan Resolution Dampening Script, Targeting Range Dampening Script, but there was no sensor dampener module in the fitting list.

There was no hope for the uncloaked (pods and ships with burned out cloaking devices). When the engagement was over, ships whose cloaking devices were burned out from forgetting to cancel an overload action, or pods that survived and warped off, were left to fend for themselves, and those pilots felt shunned by the fleet if any came near the main cloaked group.

There was a valid reason the uncloaked ships remained far away from the main group, a reason known by the veterans, but not explained to me or to new pilots to the fleet at the time. Uncloaked ships avoided warping to the main group, at any range, and warped off to a safe. Uncloaked ships that landed on the BLOPS (Black Ops Battleship) at 0km or 100km, gave the main group's position away to the enemy. Enemy combat scanner probes had a higher chance of locking down the fleet's relative location and sending a retaliation fleet to destroy the bombers.

The BLOPS was able to bridge ships with fitted cloaking devices (undamaged or damaged). Ships with a fitted cloaking device module were able to take the bridge. Pods or ships with no fitted cloaking device module were not able to take the bridge due to game mechanics.

If pods or ships broke their cloaking devices, they still had options:
    1) The uncloaked ship or pod activated the self-destruct button. This was the easiest option. The ship and pod self-destructed, the pilot returned to his/her clone bay, if time permitted, fly back to the staging station for more fun. But what if pilots had implants you cannot afford to lose or don't want to waste?
    2) The FC gave the uncloaked pilots a route back to the wormhole entry system or to high-sec. The route to the wormhole system had a high chance of bubbled gates, watched by instant-kill Sabres. The FC may have been busy with other comms and no route was provided.
    3) The pilot logged out. With time and patience, the pilot logged back in, at a later random time, and risked taking the system gates back to high-sec.
    4) Ships with burned out cloaking device modules asked the FC for a second bridge. Depending on the situation (fuel, threat level), the FC approved/denied a second bridge.

Seems like a nice battle and while I assume e-uni has been involved in titan destruction before, it's the only one I can remember in my time.

The rorq is in the +isk column because 2 bombers either mistakenly or to pad their killboard shot at it which the tool is picking up.

Engaging rorqs already covered with titan's on grid seems a really bad idea.

When the engagement was over, ships whose cloaking devices were burned out from a FC-ordered launcher overload, or pods that survived and warped off, were left to fend for themselves, and shunned by the fleet. If a pod lands on a BLOPS at 0km, it is shunned and despised by the fleet. If a pod lands on a BLOPS at 100km, it is also shunned and dispised by the fleet. In this environment, you are valuable as long as your cloaking device is active. But once it is broken or non-existent, you are treated like dirt, an outcast.
Couple of things:

-> Pod: If you are in a pod you cannot take a black ops bridge. Newcomers maybe dont know that at first (it'll get explained every single time so after a second drop they then hopefully know), but more experienced folks should. If you do warp to the fancy T2 battleship (even at distance) you are putting the whole fleet at risk (think combat probes and ... oh look a bubbler). Dont take it the wrong way, noone hates you but they hate the pod that's about to decloak the blops thus the fleet and then put everyone at bullet point.

-> Burn: If you burn out your cloak you also are doing something wrong. FC overheat command is not a strict order, with experience you know he wants to have more than max dps in order to burn down a target. Dont simply shut off your common sense, your cloak is your means to survive. Overheat if you can, if you're about to burn out your cloak due to overheating your guns, stop overheating despite of what's asked for.

-> Saving ppl: On occasion yes, we did some fancy timed maneuvers with burned out cloak aka align to planet X, warp now, bridge up everyone take etc... it works but it puts an additional strain upon the fc/blops/outcyno to time/position that so if done it's for special cases (basicly boils down to FC if (s)he wants to) and depends on the surroundings. Most of the time if it's "just a random bomber" the call is "get lucky and catch the bridge or you're gating". Decision might be different if it's a recon but then why would a recon burn out his highslots in the first place. Anyways this is also situational. In this specific case, with that amount of hostiles/combatprobes and the midpoint required, it was fair to say "tough luck selfdestruct and use the srp". For Pods there's no saving either way, they have to gate. Which then gets me back to the first thing which was "dont take it personal, better to lose a bomber than the whole fleet". On the other hand again situational, we (in this example me, not this fleet but one you did your AAR for earlier) even did 6 bridges just to get one single afk person out but only because the surroundings allowed for that.

At no point is it you as person being disliked, just your situation within the context of an NPSI fleet and thus your desperation of getting out putting in peril the rest is the thing ppl yell at. But as that situation is a pod with a name they scream the name ;)

Think you get the idea.

Thank you for the feedback. I didn't know about the BLOPS not able to bridge ships that didn't have an active cloaking device. If I understand your post correctly, I adjusted the evaluation. Please let me know if I need to correct anything.

You did not. In order to take a black ops bridge your ship needs to have a covert ops cloak fitted. Doesnt matter if burned out or not. A Pod doesnt have that hence cannot take the bridge.
