[AAR][WHC][SS] Null Sec Welp

Sunday night in WHC and bacon has 2 frig holes to Null. Seems like a good opportunity to take out our Small Ships doctrine. We got 2 logi, 2 inties, and 5 DD. Plan was to shotgun both holes, and if we didn't get anything we'd check dotlan and roam a bit.

Bacon

We form up on .Bacon and then jump through. Bob throws us a very small bone for our effort thus far in the form of an imicus doing a null data site. I warp entire fleet to it, inties burn out and tackle/kill it. Pretty funny start.

First hole

Someone jumped through on their own without the rest of the fleet. It was empty, as was the surrounding area, so it didn't matter.

Second hole

Jumped in and we owned system. Had some advice from people that know Null better then I do (thanks much for the help) on where to look for some content. We roam about a bit not finding much. We start to burn back home when a Gila landed on our out gate with us. I call jump and I wait to make sure Gila jumps. It jumps and I call to decloak and tackle Gila. As I am jumping I see a typhoon land on gate. Again, a more experienced person wisely chimes in and says it's probably rapid light, which I understand is pretty bad for us. I tell everyone to align to out gate right as gila decloaks.

Here is my huge mistake. I froze up a bit. I wasn't sure if we should try to burn gila quickly and then run, or just run. I finally call damage on the Gila, but by that point I see one of my logi is already almost dead. I call scatter, but several of us get tackled.

After that we just headed back to ALI.

Take away

I was hoping the gila was PvE fit and we could burn him down quick for a good trade. This was greedy and unrealistic in the situation we were in. I should have had us leave.
