[AAR] 19:00 Heydieles Housewarming III - 23th August

Post by Alexander Oromov »

AAR Q1: What happened?

At 20:15, 8 capsuleers undocked in 5x Algos, 2x Inquisitor, 1x Navy Slicer to roam around the factional war zone. Fleet engaged in a total of 0x fleet fights and 4x minor skirmishes.

Participants (10)
Spoiler
Alexander Oromov - Algos
Brerick Enderas - Algos
Darth Galifreia - Algos, Executioner
Mike Kingswell - Inquisitor
Mols Halleck - Griffin
Nathan Tamroc - Algos
Phetsz - Inquisitor
Pink Kondur - Algos
Tiberius Auduin - Imperial Navy Slicer
averoth trojan - Algos
At first, we did poke the big Russian bear by killing a very confident R.E.V.O.L.U.T.I.O.N Harpy at our form up location. His back up was not able to lock up the tiny Algos. After pinging, we docked and the station lit up immediately with Tornados, Cynabals, and other toys.

(18:47:56) Heydieles
Harpy +75.32m

Meanwhile, we lost an Algos pilot that joined up mid-fleet to a Salt Farmers gate camp. Salt Farmers did close down Akidagi with a substantial GC fleet.

(19:31:30) Akidagi
Algos -13.12m
Capsule -0.01m

Lacking content, we blapped a Cyno at the Kinakka citadel.

(19:41:12) Kinakka
Cormorant +1.92m

We did continue to Pavanakka, were we were able to catch a neutral Coercer on gate. Our two logistics pilots Mike and Phetsz (new to Uni fleets) did a great job by keeping everybody alive.

(19:52:51) Pavanakka
Coercer +4.93m

A bit down further, we found a playful Cormorant. We played our usual FW trick, it worked, but the warp was too long, when we landed our initial tackle died. We did continue without a scout. Apparently, we lost the Executioner to gate guns in the meanwhile.

(20:20:41) Hikkoken, Nennamaila
Executioner -8.71m
Imperial Navy Slicer -29.98m

Last but not least, we caught a neutral Maller on gate, we jumped along him and engaged. He hugged the gate. Some of us jumped through the other side. Meanwhile the Maller red-boxed and used EC-300 drones on our logi, breaking the first of our ships. When the information came that we have a red-boxing Maller, it was late. I commanded the rest of fleet to jump in and continue with the engagement. Just as we were on the Maller with the entire fleet, an ADNA frigate gang came in. They engaged some of us and the Maller warped off.

Algos -12.97m
Griffin -7.99m
Inquisitor -5.99m
Inquisitor -4.52m

AAR Q2: What went well?

fast form up
having a talk with everyone
avoiding and going around the Salt Farmer gate camp
apart from the 50AU warp the FW trick worked once again, if we only had better timing
gate gun management with our two logistics pilots worked like a charm

AAR Q3: What can be improved?

We need to make ways of not losing people when they make best speed to form up or when they try to catch up.
A good selection of our fleet was able to tackle friendlies and gates. Good job guys. Seriously, don't do that to me.
Losing Tiberius Slicer right before he left, was a shame.

How to do it next time:

1. We should have jumped Tiberius in way earlier, so he could catch the Cormorant OUTSIDE of the gate.
2. We should have Tiberius announce the Cormorant as soon as he appeared on SCAN, not when he landed. We could have jumped in our logistics way earlier.

Losing the Maller was also a shame.

How to do it next time:

1. We need to be more decisive so we can grab the Maller BEFORE he made it back to the gate.
2. The red-box call needs to come through. We were wasting one third of our DPS with at least two Algos pilots waiting for the command to join in the fight.

Shoutout to Phetsz for doing his first Uni fleet and immediatly accompanying Mike as logibro, thanks for the reps mate!

We need to make ways of not losing people when they make best speed to form up or when they try to catch up.
IMO this is a problem for most uni fleets, and i have been caught myself aswell...
Not sure what can prevent this other than moving the fleet as a whole or doing a max of 2/3 jumps for 'make best speed'.
Will try to contemplate on this issue

1. Be at form up early.
2. Use travel interceptors.
3. Make / use insta bookmarks.
4. Catch up with more agile hulls.

Now, how to spread this out and make it a habit is another question.

I was talking more about during the fleet (hence in docrtine ships) but i guess 3/4 are still valid even in those. Not to disregard the other points (esp number 1)
