[FLEET] NOP 05/15/18

Post by Analiese Aubernet »

I'm writing this AAR quite a bit after the fact due to my forum access going kaput during the ESI changes, so I want to focus less on the details of particular kills and more on the methodology of setting up and executing this rupture fleet.

Arty Ruptures are ostensibly an alpha doctrine - a doctrine that finds its place in large fleet fights, particularly in TiDi, due to its ability to simply remove enemy ships from the grid without a chance for enemy logistics to save the target.

This doctrine is not quite as useful when used as a roaming doctrine, particularly in faction warfare lowsec, as content tends to be either very large (drops) or very small (nanogangs). As such, I decided before going out that our best way to generate content as a fleet would be to set up gatecamps.

Gatecamps in lowsec require a very specific set of support ships:

1) An instalocker. Without an instalocker, most content is going to wander right out of your grasp before cruisers can lock it.
2) A webber. Without a webber, anything that gets a decent spawn and has an MWD has a better than even chance of crashing the gate before getting killed and wandering off on the opposite side of the camp.
3) Logi. This part is slightly optional, but very useful for keeping the previous two roles alive under gateguns.

I made sure that these three roles were covered and thoroughly explained before undocking. This allowed the fleet to get a significant number of kills on gates - in fact, most of the kills listed below were generated through gatecamping.

I was very satisfied with the performance of our support roles, and morale seemed high throughout the fleet, which was one of my objectives as FC - this is a NOP roam, and the objective ought to be to make newbros want to stick around and attend more fleets.

Feel free to ask any questions that you may have either on this forum, or contact me ingame.

I admit that's probably the one of very very few successful executions of alpha doctrines. Was nice to see how things pop.

Another thing to mention: it was quite a bit of content this night which I explain partially by incursion into Tama-Kedama area, that may directed the big chunk of traffic into Nennamaila's surroundings.

P.S. Funny thing, I was able to get the final blow by Vigil Fleet Issue :)
