[NPSI] Rail Harpies: 7.5B ISK

Post by Budda Sereda »

I wanted to skirmish with Harpies in nul: https://forum.eveuniversity.org/viewtop ... 6&t=109460 and get NSC folks, but apparently, nobody from NSC joined, I guess because of another Spectre Fleet just few hours before main...

Anyway, we undocked quite a decent fleet:

Fleet was quite for a while. We waited for one of logy pilots to catch up and in a mean time scouts found content in 2X-, they tried to bait into escalation, but ended up catching and killing the SFI:
(01:59:10) 2X-PQG
Scythe Fleet Issue +92.97m

In PF- we tried to kill hecate, but only killed its bubble:
(02:07:35) PF-346
Mobile Small Warp Disruptor I +0.85m

And Jack caught roaming random capsule:
(02:19:54) PF-346
Capsule +37.85m

Originally I did want to go to nul and find content overthere, but it was not too contentful. Plus nearest entrance into nul had incusion so when Glen offered let's camp Tama I accepted it.

On the way we found small ships here and there, but only able to catch MTU.
(02:34:43) Arderonne
Mobile Tractor Unit +7.72m

Closer to Tama it was a bit more interesting, In Kedama we caught a BB on the gate:
(02:55:38) Kedama
Blackbird +27.3m

In Tama - Daredevil:
(03:05:18) Tama
Daredevil +83.85m

Shortly we got an Armageddon jumping into us, he was not flashy and I guess that's what made him agress us. We all hit him once, bounced, and killed on a gate by trading few t1 small ships:

Bantam -2.75m
Thrasher -13.81m
Armageddon +258.58m

Random Venture on citadel was caught by bored pilots.
Venture +0.36m

Another time we found the fight between Caracal and Stabber, when we warped Stabber run away, but we got Caracal:
Caracal +38.35m

While we where warping back to Nourvukaiken gate, Sleipnir decided to agress... He was tanking, but eventually, we would break him. When I called 'can somebody deagress' people laughed at me: he was criminal and could not jump to HS.
Heh, indeed he jumped. Luckily, one of fleet mate was in HS (I guess was just watching the gate) so he was able to solo Sleipnir in a Cheetah.
Sleipnir +1725.38m
Capsule +0.01m
I was not impudent enough to call contracting loot to FC, so ... :/

Few more small kills:
(03:23:56) Tama
Badger +0.86m
Capsule +0.01m
Cormorant +2.16m
Caracal +38.35m
Crucifier Navy Issue +32.63m

And after some shanenigan we were able to bait and kill the smarbombing Proteus:
(03:51:01) Tama, Kedama
Proteus +1539.48m
Such ships are usually piloted by pilots with expensive pod and I was trying to get the whole fleet on the kill, but ... Glen was afraid that pod will jump through the gate.
Capsule +3676.57m
Maybe.

Shortly after scouts reported a big gang landing on a gate from the other side.

I did not want to rush and we first killed Moa (which I believe was baiting):
Moa +9.93m

Later we successfully disengaged. On another gate they had Retribution ahead of the fleet. We engaged it, but it pulled the range. I guess I should have stopped here, or at least load long range ammo, push it out of the grid, and see if opponents make any mistake and split the fleet...
But I tried to see anything small we can catch and brought fleet closer to the gate

At some point, was pointed. Not a big deal, few times already I did run away, but this time they had Vigilant... :( I called fleet to scatter, but it looks like few people could not make it:

(04:04:15) Hirri
Kestrel -13.37m
Harpy -49.72m
Harpy -67.14m
Keres -42.28m
Capsule -6.12m

Stats
ISK Destroyed: 7,534,908,431.12
ISK Lost: 195,181,675.02
ISK Delta: 7,339,726,756.1
Efficiency: 97.475%

Overall evaluation
  • (Positive stuff)
So far, this is the most ISK positive fleet.
Still get a fleet fight (though I lost it).
Great scouting support from Glen and Jack.

    (Negative stuff)
I'm not happy the way I've FCed fleet:
    * going through null it was quite and boring-ish.
    * I changed my plan to go to skirmish in nul and we went camping which at least does not match to the fleet announcement and give people reasons to blame me for not delivering promised content
    * few times I made logistics mistakes
    * should not stay on the grid with a stronger opponent for TOO long
    * Glen and Jack did such a good job scouting that ... I pretty much was useless for the fleet other than giving high-level direction on where to go. color=#00FFFF]What GOOD FC should do with GOOD scouts? :)[/color] I guess relax and enjoy? :)

I've tried to find the fit of that Retribution we could not catch, could be this one:
https://zkillboard.com/kill/69678523/
5 times more expensive and has wwice lower tank than Harpy - the shield representative of my doctrine, but 20% quicker, has twice more DPS, and has a similar engagement range. 6km extra point range (7.2km OH) is nice, but BLINGY MWD gives only 100m/s
Downgrading it down to T2 make a good addition to a small nano gang:

[Retribution, MWD Beam SAAR - nano]

Extruded Compact Heat Sink
FFR Enduring Assault Damage Control
Nanofiber Internal Structure II

5MN Quad LiF Restrained Microwarpdrive

Small Focused Beam Laser II, Aurora S

Scratch that: if nano ship (which usually fights outnumbering forces) is scrammed, extra EHP and even 15s of invulnerability won't help much. They can help surviving the mistake, yes, but ideally, in a nano gang, you want to stay out of range and leverage high speed and long range. In this case you benefit more from extra DPS than from EHP.
With that in mind, I would still accept using DC for training purposes, but ideally, each nano-pilot should reach the level when he does not need extra EHP.
P.S. Thanks Conci for pushing :)
