[NNitH] Mainly PvE this time

Post by Budda Sereda »

Hi folks, sorry for the delayed AAR.
It is quite a while since I've been to WHC in particular and WH in general and I wanted to expose many newbros to the WH life so I decided to run a NNitH (Newbro Night in the Hole: https://forum.eveuniversity.org/viewtop ... 52#p882852 + https://forum.eveuniversity.org/viewtop ... 3a80940ee8). And to add a bit of spice, I wanted to aggressively roll WHC's C3 static to find PvP.

Class started ... interesting:
VERY few people joined, a bit more showed up in 5 minutes after class start (around 7-8 people in total). Which was discouraging? Even more, when I asked about previous WH experience many people replied: we do have PvE experience and looking for a fleet which is new.

Ok, so instead of going through basics I spoke about things that are more related to fleets fights. Hope it was new and educational.

Later (with some delay) we undocked and moved to WHC. I would say without incidents, but I forgot I just had a great vacation time in new LSC 'winter' campus (Kamela) and my security status was not good enough to travel in HS, so: https://zkillboard.com/kill/68282699/
Who told that HS is a safe place? No, the most safe place is WH-space. You just need to know how to leave there :)

When we came closer to WHC I got information that folks are hunting in the nearby system and because opponents had eyes in Innuendo they asked us to wait while they land a tackle. Unfortunately, connection WHC had a fight was already shrinked, as a results: we could not join the fight and part of WHC fleet was rolled out and needed to come back home through the nul-sec. ATM, I don't have more details about the engagement.

Action plan for the duration of staying in WHC was following: find Bacon (those who attended class know what does that mean) with green sites we can run while scouts look for PvP content.
I handed to some folks some ships and waiting for any sort of content we started running sites in Innuendo. Usually, we don't do (C2 sites are not really profitable, and we leave them to attract content from HS), but this time we made an exception for educational purposes.
Shortly, WHC rolled beacon twice: the first time system was really bad (had no obvious PvP content, and only 1 green site). It was rage-rolled again with better result: Bacon had around 20 green sites and quite a few signatures. Newbros went baiting (killing rats and making ISKs), WHC scouts started scanning connected systems.

One of the connected systems had few citadels with around 7 logged people, Titus started poking them (by shooting their citadel, apparently, they were -5 to us), but they did not respond. Why? I assume that was a bearing corp with not much PvP intention, plus we poked them with quite an intense force: 2 guards, Damnation, few HACs.
@Titus: maybe we should send a smaller vanguard?

After 20-30 minutes of shooting we gave up and come back, shortly we wrapped up bearing and get back home.

At the moment when I was ready to get folks back to Stacmon, scouts reported PvP content again (don't remember what was that exactly), so part of us stayed waiting for content... Again, unsuccessful. :(

I completed the paperwork, and as a result, expect everybody to get paid in around 19.5M ISK. This amount is not impressive to what usually WH dwellers earn, typical income from fleet running sites is around 60M ISK. But considering we had many people who did not have own cruisers I assume that was not bad.

What was good?
1. Turn-out: it was around 25-ish folk undocking from Stacmon and around 20 folks in WHC helping with many different things. Many thanks to Titus, Biwako, and many other WHC-members!
2. We lost no newbros today. Often running even PvE green sites we have losses, today everybody was on the ball: good performance!

What could be better?

1. Monitor your security status and maintain it on the proper level or be extra caution travelling through HS.
2. PvP Content: I believe it is WH specific, it is hard to enforce content. It exists (https://zkillboard.com/kill/68354623/), and often drops a good loot (https://zkillboard.com/kill/68354672/), but I guess as often in EVE not always coming when you want it :)

I hope you guys had fun and learned something new. Consider joining WHC for a few months to learn and experience what is actual WH life.

Stay thirsty!
