The Great Journey of the Clones

Post by Arashi Shizukana »

This AAR is for the Clones Kill Clones fleet on May 9th.

We switched to Catalysts, and succeeded! Our primary target this fleet was Huola, a system out in rusty space that had received quite a bit of activity on Dotlan. And while the fight itself was quite good, the journey there is the real experience. Why? Because we explored every empire's space! We started in Gallente, and then moved into Caldari, and after that Amarr until we finally reached Minmatar space. And all in 30-odd jumps from Stac! We found a bunch of clone soldiers on the way, as well, and managed to have a final count of:

1x Transporter
4x Recruiter
2x Trainer

The Transporter tag was given to the person in fleet with the lowest sec status, Xana McBash, in order to help repair it. Ultimately so he could lower it again, of course. Xana, by some great miracle, also found over half of the clone soldiers on the fleet. So basically Xana is now a requirement on my fleets, as otherwise we'll probably find nothing.

Our ending fight went pretty well, and after some unsuccessful salt in local trying to bait them into our plex, we went to theirs. The enemy fleet was a destroyer/firetail mix, the destroyers primarily being algoses. I landed in first to the plex, and called an algos sitting right off of us the primary, as its drones would likely do the most damage out of the ships present. We dismantled the algos at about the same time my catalyst went pop, and Xana managed to take out 2 firetails during this. When I went down I called for NotA Witch to take 2IC, and they continued fighting while I made a safe. While the fleet itself lost and we were forced to scatter after a couple of minutes of fighting, it was plenty enjoyable, and we almost went ISK positive. Kills and losses are below, along with one loss from Megoste early on who was chasing us in a Cynabal.

Thank you for taking the time to plan a different fleet.

Roaming around all those different areas of empire space was a much needed break from the usual "Placid into Black Rise". And we got to fight a Minmatar militia gang (might have been a first for me).

I think switching from the shield thoraxes to these catalysts was a fine idea, made us more engageable, fights against the transporters were also more interesting, meant the logibros actually had to do something during the PvE part of the fleet
