Beautify the Wiki: EVE University 20th Anniversary Edition
Capsuleers of New Eden, let's make the Wiki the most beautiful and the most truthful publicly available knowledge repository in all of New Eden!
Basic Information
- When: between 2024-03-04 and 2024-04-07
- Where: on the Wiki
- Who: all capsuleers, you needn't be a member of EVE University
Any editor that made at least one edit during the Event containing the word "BEAUTIFY" in the edit "Summary" is eligible to receive prizes.
Only one edit summary needs to contain "BEAUTIFY". You don't have to add "BEAUTIFY" to every edit.
At the end of the Event, editors who are eligible to receive prizes will have the totality of their work, not just the edits whose "Summary" contains the word "BEAUTIFY", judged by members of the Wiki Department or the Event's Patrons.
Excellence prizes are aimed at rewarding ambitious Wiki wizards and Participation prizes are aimed at rewarding newcomers for their well intentioned concerted effort to improve the Wiki.
I, Wiki Manager Arin Mara, will shoulder the burden of making final judgements, judging intentions, resolving ambiguity and awarding prizes.
Excellence prizes
There are many ways in which you can demonstrate excellence. The prize is as much about being an excellent editor as it is about making excellent edits.
Editors judged to be most excellent will receive:
- 1st place: 833M ISK + 20 PLEX
- 2nd place: 667M ISK + 20 PLEX
- 3rd place: 500M ISK + 20 PLEX
- 4th place: 333M ISK + 20 PLEX
- 5th place: 167M ISK + 20 PLEX
If you haven't received an Excellence prize, don't worry! If you made a well intentioned concerted effort to improve the Wiki, you will be entered into a Participation raffle.
The Participation raffle prizes are:
- 7 x 100M ISK + 10 PLEX
- 18 x 100M ISK
In order to achieve the greatest benefit for capsuleers of New Eden, rather than for a group such as the Wiki Department or EVE University,:
- Wiki Curators, Wiki Officers, the Wiki Manager and the Event's Patrons are ineligible to receive prizes
- Improvements to articles listed in the Category:EVE University or its subcategories are excluded from being judged
Additionally, if you attempt to game the Event, I, Wiki Manager Arin Mara, will make you frown. Be honest. Have good intentions.
How do I participate?
- Go to EVE University Wiki
- Click the "EVE LOG IN with EVE Online" silver button in the upper right corner of the Wiki - sign in, select user and authorize
- Pick a Wiki article you want to improve
- Click the "Edit" button in the top-right corner
- Improve the article - this step will take up the overwhelming majority of your effort
- Click "Show Preview" to see if everything looks as you expected
- Write a descriptive edit "Summary" - make sure at least one of your edits contains the word "BEAUTIFY" to be eligible to receive prizes
- Click "Submit changes"
- You've made the Wiki more beautiful and truthful as well as made yourself eligible to receive prizes. Congratulations!
Where do I start?
- Take a look at the Editing Guide
- Find a Wiki article that catches your eye - you like or dislike it, you think it's beautiful or ugly - click "Edit" and try figuring out which part of the Wiki article, when translated into Wiki syntax/code, caught your eye
- Make small improvements - correct typos, add a Category, write a sentence or two, upload an image - be bold, grow your confidence
- Remember, you can't mess up the Wiki - errors can be corrected with a click of a button
