A large part of these fleets is using the loot to buy and fit out loaner Gnosis ships (plural Gnosi?) so you can borrow a ship to join in until you can afford something suitable.

For example to run a L4 Shield Gnosis fit, you'll likely need minimum skills of :
Afterburner: 3
CPU Management: 2
Drones: 3
Energy Grid Upgrades: 2
Gunnery: 2
Heavy Missiles: 1
High Speed Maneuvering: 1
Hull Upgrades: 3
Light Drone Operation: 1
Light Missiles: 3
Long Range Targeting: 1
Mechanics: 2
Medium Drone Operation: 1
Missile Bombardment: 1
Missile Launcher Operation: 3
Navigation: 3
Power Grid Management: 2
Repair Systems: 1
Science: 1
Spaceship Command: 1
Weapon Upgrades: 1

although training these higher (to 3 or 4) will give you more flexibility. The secret behind skill training is that a skill at 4 takes 20% of the time and gives 80% of the benefit for a skill trained to 5.

from a newbro to newbro: You should at least join 1 time this event... guaranteed fun, experience and random cows.

lol, I'm still working my mining and hauling alts through the SOE missions. Main has all that to three, some to 4, drones will be at 5 by the time I'm ready to jump in. I'm the prepare everything first, then join team events kinda player.

Only the first fit can be imported to eve's fitting menu, latter two give an error.

I suspect the error comes from an incorrect header:

"[Gnosis newbro cannon]" should be "[Gnosis, Gnosis newbro cannon]", similar for the other one - otherwise it can't figure out what hull is meant.
