[Complete] Shared Can with a bonus 2024/09/21 at 17:01 ET

Post by Thagrronk Jinn »

Greetings and salutations to you all o7

My name is Thagrronk Jinn and I am hosting a favorite with a twist, that being a Mining Shared Can event, with the twist being a raffle.
Image

When: September 21st, 2024
Time: 17:01 to 21:00 EVE Time.
Location: Slays / Willy Wonka's Rocklet Factory
Comms: Mumble (optional, but always encouraged :D )

What is a shared can?
For those of you that do not know what a shared can event is, allow me to explain. A shared can event is where a mining fleet will collect ore (duh) and instead of taking it and submitting it for buyback (or stashing it away like packrats), you jetcan it into space so that a designated pilot can collect it. At the end of the fleet when all the ore has been collected from all the participating pilots, the FC or designated pilot will submit all the ore for buyback and then once that person receives the isk from the buyback, it will be divided up and handed out to the participating pilots based on their mining time.

The twist part
Let me explain the twist :D
The raffle will work like this: you will earn 1 (one) raffle ticket per every half hour. In order to be able to receive raffle tickets, your character must be registered on Alliance Auth (shouldn't be too hard since you can't join E-Uni without registering on AA). At the end of the event, after everyone's times have been figured out, we will do the raffle draw. There will be 3 draws, with a different prize for each draw. If you win one draw, your name will be taken out of the remaining draws to make it so that no one person has the chance to sweep the prize pool.

Prize's:
After prodding Turtle and Idris for some ideas, the following are the prizes we have laid out for you all:
1st Draw - A Miner's Supply Bundle: 50 mining crystals - A or B your choice - for moons and asteroids, 50 exotic dancers, and a pile of spirits and tobacco
2nd Draw - choice between either a fitted Expedition Frigate or a T1 E-Uni fitted Mining Barge
3rd Draw - T1 ship up to cruiser class of your choice, with T1 E-Uni fit from the corp fit list

As this is a shared can event, like all other shared can events everyone will still receive a cut of the total ore collected value based on your mining time. This is a great money maker for newbros who are just starting their journey in New Eden. The raffle is separate and will not affect the payment received from the shared can payout.

For those of you who are new to the game and maybe do not have a mining ship yet, Uni offers free mining frigates called Ventures as a part of the Flight Deck Program. They can be gotten via a contract at the Dairek's Chateau station in Slays.

I hope to see all of you out there on grid slurping up that delicious moon goo o7

I was in the Rumble channel for this event as a beginner to the game as was looking forward to this. I typed in the channel as I didn't have my mic setup yet. No one answered or responded to me. There was no direction where to go as I was at the location stated. No one stated how to join the fleet, where we were to go to mine, etc. It ended up being pretty disappointing as it was advertised as newbie friendly and finally left the event room and logged on an alt.

People don't tend to text chat in mumble. did you message in any of the Uni channels in game? the event is still running and if you open your fleet finder in game you can still join and we can explain stuff in fleet chat in game for you

I understand but I joined EVE Uni to learn. When you run an event and advertise it as new user friendly, I would hope that those running the event would ask if there are new users that are here and need help, which wasn't asked via voice or text. I also think that someone should at least check the Rumble event room for people who are lost and don't know what to do. I am pushing 60 and learning the game, setting up Rumble, setting up Discord, setting up EVE Uni forums is a huge job for me. I joined EVE Uni because it was told that its main purpose to guide new players through the game. Little things like this result in the exact opposite. This is just my view and seemed it was event that a normal group of people run often and looking for rookies didn't seem to be anywhere on their agenda and left me very disappointed.
