Next Event: FEB 5th 2023 @19h00
Meeting Location:None (Dock up or play and listen- there will be no visual part)
Hello, I'm Dreeza and I like the Universe of Eve Online. I find it fascinating.
And I'm not just talking about the lore. But the real life people building up those massive geopolitical wars in a universe that has it's own rules.
I'd like to share a book I have bought with you guys : Empires of Eve
I was lucky enough to get ahold of the writer Andrew Groen and he was kind enough to allow me to read it all to you as part of Eve University event.
I am not sponsored or getting any rewards from the writer but as a thank you to him let me remind you that both of his books are on Amazon, he recently released a second one)
Join me and others and go back in time, when eve was just starting, and the heroes and villains of today were just players like us, struggling to find a way to make isk in a new world we discover, attacked by ruthless patches that moved armies.
''Empires of EVE: A History of the Great Wars of EVE Online is the incredible true story of the dictators and governments that have risen to power within the real virtual world of EVE Online.
Since 2003, this sci-fi virtual world has been ruled by player-led governments commanding tens of thousands of real people. The conflict and struggle for power between these diverse governments has led to wars, espionage, and battles fought by thousands of people from nations all over the world. There have been climactic last stands, wars for honor and revenge, and spies who caused more damage than a fleet of warships.
Empires of EVE is the history of how political ideas first began to take hold in EVE Online, how that led to the creation of the first governments and political icons, and how those governments eventually collapsed into a state of total war from 2007-2009.''
-Andrew Groen
Our event time will run about an hour or so, and will consist of 1 or 2 chapters of the book whick will be both on mumble and will be stread at https://www.twitch.tv/eve_university .
If you are interested in the event, please attend! I would appreciate long time players to come, maybe even give their take and experience on some of the event that might be talked about through the book.
But it's mostly going to be listening to an awesome story read by yours truly.
Next Reading to be determined
