[COMPLETED][EVENT] EVE Uni Thursday Fight Club (UFC) - Slays, Weekly on Thursdays @ 19:00EVE
EVE Uni Fight Club (UFC) - Thursdays in Slays
FIGHT CLUB HOSTS: Arkady Marten and Élan Vital
LOCATION: Slays, UFC The Octagon - Bleacher (will be available in Stacmon Bookmark Folder 8 - Fight Club)
WHEN: Weekly on Thursdays @ 19:00EVE
DURATION: 2 hours
COMMS: Mumble, Foxtrot Fleet Channel
FORMAT: Tech 1 empire frigates with Tech 1 modules (meta 4 or below), and base Tech 1 ammunition and charges; the one exception being T2 Damage Control modules are allowed.
SHIPS: On contract in Dairek's Chateau, Slays or bring that fit you've been wanting to try
RULES: Complete rules and fits
PVP EXPERIENCE: None. No previous PvP experience required!
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE: Members of EVE University, their in-corp alts, and even their out-of-corp alts! There can never be enough Fight Club.
If you are new to PVP or just new to UFC, check out the Uni Fight Club Frequently Asked Questions thread.
What if we told you that you can grab a free ship and join us to learn about small-scale PvP in a controlled and supportive environment? What if we told you it will be in the comfort of Slays, just next to Stacmon? What are we talking about?
We're talking about Uni Fight Club. Using UFC-outfitted™ T1 frigates available free on contract, you'll get to engage in 1 vs 1 PVP combat with other Unistas. At any point, you can concede the fight and ask for combat to stop. After each fight, we'll discuss what went well, what didn't go well, what could've gone better, how to get more from the fit, etc. Practical experience with immediate feedback and discussion and a no-podding rule--this is the most risk free, ISK-riskless, and painless way to learn PVP. And lest we forget to mention it, it's a whole lot of fun.
WHAT IF PVP ISN'T WHERE I SEE MY EVE JOURNEY GOING?
We would say that is all the more reason to participate. Fighting doesn't only involve attacking; it requires defense as well. Knowing how to defend yourself does not mean you ever plan on attacking someone; rather, it means that you are that much more ready should you be attacked someday. For example, understanding how tackling works and how one may escape tackle are not just useful for players who like PVP.
WHAT CAN I FLY? HOW DOES IT WORK?
Just take a look at the complete rules and fits. You can also find the UFC fits in-game. Simply open the Fitting window, click on the fit browser button (the wrench), then under Hulls & Fits use "UFC" as your search term. You be able to see all the UFC T1 frigates as well as simulate them.
CAN I BRING MY OWN SHIP?
While you can come and make use of free ships, you may also bring your own fits with the original UFC format or perhaps a fit that you've been experimenting with that you want to try out. Of course your fit must follow the same rules as the UFC fits: Tech 1 empire frigates with Tech 1 modules (meta 4 or below), and base Tech 1 ammunition and charges. The one exception to this rule is that you may use Damage Control II modules. You can use your Uni Fight Club experience to help you become more familiar with fitting. Show everyone how devious you are. Defy expectations and bring something heterodox. Test it out and catch someone not expecting your crazy fit.
NOTE: If you do bring your own ships with fits that you like, your losses will be eligible for Uni Ship Replacement Program (SRP) reimbursement as long as you are within the Uni SRP rules and SRP limits.
Please join us in Slays on Thursdays at 20:00 EVE. Let's blow up some ships and learn together.
For fun! For glory! For our beloved Uni! We hope we will see you there.

This is an awesome idea! Count me in. God knows I need the training.

It's only because of the excellent groundwork that people like you and other Unistas built, Red Fish. The foundation has already been laid and we are fortunate to have a fantastic playbook to work from. Thank you.

Man, I was looking forward to this, but it's sunny and 60 degrees F. I'm outside today.
This would especially be good, as we've got a war declaration against us now.
Oh well. RL > EVE. Amirite?
Right?

i highly recommend this event for everyone to take part of.
although under new helm and despite the kinks that need to get smoothed it is a very highly enjoyable thing to participate in, DO take part.

Been to two fight clubs and had a lot of fun. It's low pressure, with great discussion afterwards. Some really knowledgeable people around that can answer your questions, or just give great advice. If you're interested in PVP at all you'll find something to learn.
Thanks a lot, see you next week!

I'd actually never had been to Fight Club before having the good fortune of getting to host it with Arkady Marten, so you and I have attended the same number of times. I think you hit upon one of the best parts of it, at least in my humble estimation. You never know who is going to show up to Fight Club. I absolutely could not wait to give it my best try and then get my rear kicked by some of the really fantastic pilots that show up (some highlights were getting to fight Red Fish, Arps 331, and JPNS). And afterward, they give you really insightful feedback from a first person perspective. Outside of actual in-the-wild PVP, there is no better way to train.Clarityz wrote: ↑2022.05.12 23:41 Been to two fight clubs and had a lot of fun. It's low pressure, with great discussion afterwards. It was really cool to do fight club again! Thanks Arkady and Elan for organizing, it was a lot of fun. It was cool to see everyone flying a big variety of ships - I think we had fights from every frigate in the UFC lineup. Looking forward to the next ones!

Great fun today! Thanks for organising it and coordinating it. I will have to see if I can come up with something as odd as the sentry drone Tristan for the future.

Thank you for attending and I'm quite proud to have been defeated by a sentry drone Tristan.

Adding this to the main Fight Club thread (is posted to the Rules thread). Also, this is completely optional. You can still fly the UFC T1 frigates that are available on contract.Rogue Toon wrote: ↑2022.06.08 08:55 Hey ya'all, I wanted to remind you of the challenge i put forth last week!
Bring a faction ship (no t2) it can be fitted with up to T2 modules/rigs/ammo. synth drugs are ok. no implants.
if you have any questions, let me know, probably on discord or mumble though.
This should be interesting. See you all there tomorrow in Stacmon.

An exceptionally fun Event! You get paired with a Fleet Member, you jump in the arena and shoot!
Overloading, keeping up transversal, capacitor management, shooting down Drones, ... you get to experience PvP in a theater of violence! If these phrases sound foreign to you, don't worry. The winner openly explains what they did to beat you.
A few suggestions:

A few suggestions:
- if the Event moved to Slays, update the Forum Thread
- well matched capsuleers should fight to the death - when the winner is deep into hull, it is difficult to stop at 25%
- everyone should use a standardized Ship Fit - it is easier to give and receive feedback
- announce that recording/publishing of Event is ok in the Forum Thread - that's the most convenient place for pre-planned Events
