Did some quick and dirty tests on Singularity today.

- If you open the cargo of your ship through the button or right-click context menu of your ship, you open the big, universal inventory window.
- Using the option to "open in a new window" will just make another copy of the big universal inventory window, it will not open up windows similar to the old cargo holds.
- The "new window" is still just a duplicate of the regular inventory window, but you can resize it and keep it up side by side. Some elements of the UI won't be possible to trim though, so this window will be noticably bigger and more intrusive than the old single cargo hold window.
- Some actions done in one window will be mirrored in all open copies of the inventory window, which may be more or less inconvenient.

All in all, it felt awkward ... but hopefully if I play around with it some more it'll become more and more intuitive. But one thing is clear though, it'll be a lot messier to handle items in space, with cargo holds, wrecks and corporate hangars.

Also at the moment there are quite a few bugs, drone bays of ships you're not currently flying being set to 0 m3 so you can't put drones in bays unless you're sitting in that specific ship. You also couldn't open the drone bay of ships in a new window, it kept reverting to the current ship's cargo hold of all things.

So, in short I have no idea how this will work out ... need to test more :)

Im liking this feature a lot - especially the estimated prices is a big bonus although I would say it estimates more than I would realistically expect to get in a lot of cases without shopping round loads.

Question though - If someone scans the cargo of your ship do they also see an estimated price now? (I have no idea how cargo scanners work btw)

Played with this briefly at home this morning on the alt. Hating it about as much as I expected. Moving items in and out of POS structures is a royal PITA, what with not being able to just keep multiple windows open each to the correct tab in the correct structure.

Big bug and/or thing I haven't figured out is that the Corp Hangars in the office station I was parked in did not seem to want to show. Office itself is still there and the blueprints in said hangar show in the Industry / Corp Blueprints interface. :ccp:

Can you not drag from the POS structure window onto the tree on the left to drop in a different container or vice versa? Or does that not fix your problem?

I had to dock up and relog to get the office hangars to show up (in the index list)

Personally I think the unified inventory is just one huge f**k up, looking at some of the CCP responses in various threads shows that it had not even been fully thought out, let alone finished.

Alright, so having found the "open in new window" button, and with my corporate hangars back, I'm less upset about this, and would even change my position to "like" for POS management (no need to find the actual structure in space), except...

Does the stupid window open itself on every single session change (gate jump, dock, undock) for everyone else?

Cargo Hold Bug

You find that the cargo hold window keeps popping up on every gate jump, fun to have something that seems to not go away. This seems to be caused by having the cago hold selected in inventory while in base. Just make sure that before you undoc that the unified inventory is set to the "item hangar" section instead of the ship cargo hold before undocking.

Reset window positions or unpin and pin the window again and it should stop doing that.

Shift-click also works like a charm to this end. I'd almost want a setting that treats every click in the inventory as shift-click :)

Luckily it doesn't for me, but I saw someone else post about it already. Seems you need to reset your window locations and pin and unpin the window to fix it :ccp:

Also, taking up to 30 seconds!! to open the inventory window because I have 30 POS guns that I can't even reach from the middle of my POS shield is ridiculous. Is there a reason it's indexing EVERY single thing on grid that I might be able to access in stead of the stuff that's actually close enough for me to interact with?? Also, the client actually reloads your inventory window BEFORE boarding your ship if you reship in space, letting it take up to another 5 extra seconds.

Already looking forward to a POS defense fight or having to reship quickly... And salvaging. Oh,the horror. I can only hope this won't screw up storing your ship in a carrier in emergencies.

Master Akira, please do the honours of bittervetting CCP back into the ground where it belongs.

Kind of. it seems to read my mind. When I want it to be left open, it closes itself, if I want it to be closed, it opens itself on session change.

You know, I was discussing this with some of my raging corpies last night... I am not mad by this. I think it has some issues, but nothing serious... and I tested it in a Carrier inside one of our Cleveland POSes, known for their huge amount of random structures :lol: Seriously, I think it's a matter of getting used to it, with CCP fixing some small issues.

Alternatively, I can pretend I rage about it, just so I don't lose any bitter status :P

I found it a real hassle especially in a WH with the pos structures around.. since finding the CHA/SMA amongst the crazy amount of guns was a real challenge. Just doesn't seem like they really worked out the idea fully..
