Diablo 3
I try to stay away so not spend more time in another game, but friends say good things about it all the time so I’ll probably be in when it opens.

I'm not sure how canon this work is, but with Metzen as one of the writers and producers, it seems a promising notion.

Re: Diablo 3
And for those who are unfamiliar with the earlier Diablo titles or the lore, here is a great article by IGN:
The included video is a good 5-minute explanation of the story thus far. (Direct link, http://www.ign.com/videos/2012/05/04/diablo-in-five-minutes.)

Re: Diablo 3
Hope this means it’s good, and not just a stampeed. I liked Diablo II.

Re: Diablo 3
So this morning, woke up at 7, got up to check my email and what not, showered, bought D3, got ready, eat breakfast... shows you I have my priorities in order!

So last night after epic PvP fleet fight
Press install
A error occurred call customer support (and tell them what Blizzard?)
Run the downloaded again it randomly deletes 4 GB of data
I did not want to play it at midnight anyway
Still it's installing now.

Re: Diablo 3
If you are in Europe, installer issues may be caused by this.

You wouldn't have played at midnight anyways. Shock of shocks the authentication servers couldn't handle the influx of players. I heard Europe and the US had the same issues.
Blizzard's fix, taking the websites down and adding more authentication servers to help handle the load. Why they didn't do that in the first place is beyond me.
That being said, Witch Doctor is hella fun.

Re: Diablo 3
Would be neat if stat guys calculated the days off people do for opening like this.
Cost of Gaming
And then maybe work out the average loss in on the bottom line so that politicians and lawyers (or is there no difference?) can try to sue Blizzard or pass litigation to eliminate video games. Then maybe production companies can do staged releases to boost profits and diffuse the net damage while the consumer...
wait what was I talking about?
Oh ya! Someone did that calculation for pack-man back when Google replaced their doodle. Over $120 million lost revenue. I expect a complex game would be several fold more. Horrifying, simply horrifying.

Re: Diablo 3
Worst game ever. It was fun until the server went down. But, now that battle.net is broken, I can't even play single player (which is what I was doing before the server broke). I want my $110 back -_-

Re: Diablo 3
I've always figured that if you're just going to be playing single-player and you don't want all the initial server issues, then just wait a couple or three weeks before playing the game. I've seen nothing to give me confidence that any major release will be immune to such launch issues in the foreseeable future.

Re: Diablo 3
I think my only gripe so far is that I feel a little misled about the game being "global." You can play in any region with the same copy of the game, but each region is still separate with characters not carrying over between them. Perhaps I wasn't misled, perhaps I just misread.
Re: Diablo 3
Preorderd D3 almost four years ago and got it in the mailbox yesterday! Havent opened the box yet...patience patience...
Re: Diablo 3
Just perfect... The only challenge any of the act bosses posed, including Diablo of course, was the never ending cycle of boss with less than 10% health left -> "You have been removed from the game"
Here's hoping the difficulty settings will improve that, although judging from former incarnations of the Diablo games, they really don't. All that tends to change is the amount of grinding for gear needed to complete it just as easily.
