Well, that went well.

IRC's sov transfer fuckup drama avoided, system is now Raiden's.

On a related note, tidi makes lag more manageable, but 10% tidi makes you want to kill yourself.

On the plus side, if you're in a merlin, blackbird or scorp you're going to be jamming people out for almost 5 minutes per cycle. Just thinking about it makes me a little moist.

Holy Christ 604 kills to 64 losses.

And I'm on NONE of them because our fucking FC couldn't make up his mind on a bombing run angle.

I was there ... at 10% TIDI

800 vs 1200 (with 70 of those 800 being supercaps)

Also we killed 3 TCUs
and the razor drake fleet was the only fleet that didn't run into the open knife completely :smug:

To be fair, you guys were doing great on the TCUs. Team Tech decided to base their defence around the POS to hold the final 2 TCUs. It is beyond me why your forces didn't keep focusing on the other TCUs (you killed two I believe?) which would have eventually forced us to extend to defend them.

If you'd done that, and then when you showed up on grid, still focused the ongrid TCUs rather than a triaged Archon surrounded by other Logi (lol really? At 10% TiDi that is possibly the worst idea I've ever heard).

Even better would have been to escalate the matter and drop your own supers and titans - in the US TZ goons and friends can rival the capital potential of Team Tech and actually fight on better than even grounds because of your far numerous subcap numbers. But really you shied away from it and paid the butchers toll.

It would have been even more skewed if we'd managed to line up in time for an appropriate bomb run on another 100 of your guys... but our FC was too busy second guessing himself rather than taking the opportunity, so we missed out. :(

Re: The "Kalem Gives Us News & Sometimes People Comment" Thread

I think there were a fair few mistakes on our side which resulted in this one sided victory but it has to be said Raiden and friends played the game more to its advantages than we did, so well done to them.

For some reason the drake fleet I was in landed at pretty much 0 on the supers. I'm not sure about the other drake fleets but I think at least one other did the same. The supers were ECM burst'ing. For approximately 15 minutes we were trying to lock the same guardian and although the FC was told we were being ECM burst'd we didn't seem to move out of the way. So for quite a while we were doing nothing other than just trying to lock targets, and failing. We eventually managed to lock, either by moving out of range or the supers simply stopped ECM burst'ing I'm not sure, and unsuccessfully tried to kill Guardians. By this point we had probably lost 30-40 drakes. We then began trying to shoot carriers which I believe were all triaged although I can only categorically say one of them was for sure. IIRC we shot at 3 carriers in total, possibly 4, with only 1 dying. By the time that archon had died we must have lost over half the drakes in our fleet.

Something I realised during this engagement was this; at 10% TiDi a target which would normally take 5 seconds to lock would take 50 seconds (if I have that right). If you begin getting shot then it will take your logistics that extra time to lock you. Therefore, from what I can see, fighting in such a heavily TiDi'd system pretty much makes logistics, at least in the way in which we were trying to use them, pointless. Even if you broadcast upon being yellowboxed it is unlikely you'll survive long enough for reps to actually reach you. Whereas because we used missiles there was that extra time for the enemy logistics to lock yellowboxed targets and provide reps before the missiles struck.

My understanding on the premise for this engagement is that we were "trolling" Raiden by forcing them to batphone help to save their system. I do question however whether losing 600+ ships could be considered as trolling. In our FC's defence I don't you could accurately predict the outcome of fighting in such a heavily TiDi'd system especially considering the fact that we A) were not fully aware of what we were facing and B) TiDi is still relatively new. As such I think projectile weapons rather than missiles would have fared better, and so an Alpha fleet (accompanied by a Drake fleet) would have fared much better. But, we did know there would be a ton of supers there which I suspect is the reason why we didn't use Maelstroms.

In any event, very nice victory to Raiden and friends.

Re: The "Kalem Gives Us News & Sometimes People Comment" Thread

sounds to me for target calling the best way for now would be to use spies in the other fleet to determine what is being locked. though that might be tough when you have 4 different fleets with different targets being called

That excuse only works so many times. CFC has a lot of supers too, maybe it's time to use them?

Everything is slowed down (bar SP and POS Timers and the like) and thus everyone has more time to react (in real life)

thus under no TiDi you have 5 seconds to ask for reps before being red-boxed at 10% TiDi you have 50 seconds.

then Logistic has more time to react to start locking you and repping you.

The other fleet gains no extra time bar the time to react to the target call to start locking the target.

so on and so on.

especially since mittani banned the selling of supers outside of the cfc

Exactly. TiDi basically cuts the human reaction time lag out of the equation. This means that it doesn't matter as much if you're not exactly on the ball with things.
