I think you both fought different battles and even different sorts of battles.
The crash in VFK happened to me too. In NOL I missed the fleet so I can't say anything except there was much rage. But anyway, it looks like CCP fixed the problem.
But besides this all. Many think that evoke take EVE too serious with all their never talking, never posting and petitioning of everyone calling them nazis.

Never talking in local and never posting on the forums is probably a directive from leadership to stop people shitposting, I can understand that.

As glepp said, calling them Nazis because they're German is pretty out of order, I'm not surprised that gets petitioned in the slightest. Frankly, if the kind of people doing that get banned then Evoke may have done the game a favour.

Just to be clear Audrey here is German, as are a few of my members in TEST.

It goes to that grey area of is it a joke or is it going too far. I regularly call Audrey a German sausage muncher and mimic a German voice but it's all in jest. I have to say though that Swastika's in local is a no go and my corp are under instructions not to do this. But, having said that, I once assaulted an Ev0ke POS which had its modules arrayed in a Swastika formation (which we hilariously and ironically petitioned). So perhaps they don't take too much offence after all?

I agree with both of you, some of us Germans are not THAT uptight about Nazi jokes, as long as they are that, jokes. And they are easier to take if they come from those you choose to mingle with.

Problem is that we get indoctrinated from the moment we realize that girls have no sausage between their legs and are stupid because of that that we and all our descendants in all eternity are responsible for Nazi crimes and should not even utter the word, no matter how many intervening generations there have been. This makes us "uncomfortable" whenever the N-word (not the one for coloured people) is mentioned. And depiction of Nazi symbols is outright illegal in Germany, so that really is a no-go, although I am not so sure about linked web content. Some of us take that indoctrination further than others, but I usually tend towards the opinion that if you want something to never be repeated and want no one to take it seriously ever you should ridicule it and make jokes about it.

But the whole Nazi thing is very thin emotional ice for a lot of Germans, so I can kinda understand why some Evokes petition, too. Although doing so in a game because of some local spam which no one forces you to read is perhaps a bit much.
