Re: Diablo 3

Demon Hunter:

Level 17 Passive: Fundamentals (increase basic attack damage by 100%, basic attacks restore 15 Hatred)
Level 27 Skill: Strafe (multiple shots at random enemies)
Runestone: Obsidian (Strafe fires homing rockets instead)
Level 28 Passive: Sharpshooter (+3% chance to crit per second until you actually crit)
Level 30 Passive: Ballistics (increases rocket damage by 100%)

Yeah, I think that I have my skill progression plan now. :)

Re: Diablo 3

I have installed and been currently playing Diablo II in my work laptop during lunch time, it’s amazing how fun this game still is after all this years, needless to say I can’t wait for Diablo III.

Re: Diablo 3

definitely going to buy this :)

my best game buddy recently ragequit wow after seeing the panda teaser (major lol) is going to buy this too so i am just wondering which class is the best to tag team with my summoner witch doctor so i can nudge him into playing it :D

i think it should be the monk right? due to the aoe heal skills and several other ally buff skills. or issit better to go all out dps on both char?

is it possible to increase the amount of summoned dogs beyond 4? didnt see anything yet that can do this atm, maybe i missed it.

Re: Diablo 3

Finally found some time to get through the beta, at least once with one class. I chose Demon Hunter.

Engine and UI:
The engine and controls are very solid and friendly. My only complaint was the rare occasion where the iso view had slight occlusion issues where I could not see an enemy or two who was right up against the near wall. Another minor complaint was that some loot objects seemed to have their bounding box smaller than the visible object itself and thus it took an extra second to find and click on it, during which time my character was walking around it in circles due to the missed clicks. Both issues are minor and are uncommon enough that they did not detract from the fun.

Beta Length:
My previous impression from watching others review the beta gameplay was that it seemed very short. Upon playing it myself, it didn't seem nearly as short as I had thought. It is still only to the first act, first sub-boss (similar to reaching Blood Raven in Diablo 2, for those who remember). But there were enough side-quests and side areas that I didn't feel pushed into completing the main story due to lack of anything else to do. The open zones seemed much smaller than D2, which didn't feel bad and in fact probably took away from the old tedium of "wander aimlessly until you find the link to the next area". (The map markers showing you exactly the direction to that link removed that feeling entirely, of course.)

Dungeon Size:
The side dungeons were very, very small. I would be disappointed if further side dungeons were all this small. However, that is like complaining that D2's "Den of Evil" and "The Cave" were too small. They were the "beginner" dungeons and thus small on purpose. I'm confident that the side dungeons upon release will grow in later acts.

Skill Restrictions:
Skill limits required some getting used to. Some people complain that skills cannot be swapped on-the-fly, i.e. you must go to specific locations in order to change your active skills. I can understand the complaint, but it didn't seem so bad to me. In fact, it made the game more challenging and required more planning instead of being just a run-and-shoot. I personally prefer games like that. Time will tell, though, if later bosses will change my mind on that. Hopefully Blizzard's track record for good design will prevail so that one doesn't need to die to a boss and then go all the way "back to town" because one's current skill selection is mostly useless against him.

Re: Diablo 3

Wake me up when this game finally releases. I think it was quite optimistic of the OP to believe it would be released by the end of 2011. At blizzcon 2011 they would shy away from any questions about a same-year release and hinted more towards Summer 2012. It looks like a good year for games if they do indeed release in the summer, what with Mass Effect 3 coming out in march and Valve's "Something with a 3" title being announced at E3!
