News and Events - FAQ
What is News from New Eden?
The roleplaying, fiction and news section of the Uni forums. News articles, stories, roleplaying, posts or activities of any kind are encouraged. These will be filtered into two sections: The University Newspaper and the University Newsletter.
This is the adhoc section of the forums that will also be used to coordinate all matters relating to the University Media and News Department, as well as any current content requests for the Newspaper or Newsletter.
Further details on the content distribution of each will be highlighted over time. However for now, it is sufficient to assume that ever piece or writing has a place in the University Media Department. When in doubt, please ask a member of the Media Staff.
How do news articles work?
Budding writers are encouraged to produce articles on happenings in the Uni (wars, new members of staff, battle reports, your amazing wormhole stories, etc). Editors may also propose "assignments" - requests for an article on a specific subject with a deadline may be made. News articles are edited, critiqued and when ready, posted up for general perusal. Not all news articles may make the newspaper and newsletter pages, for a variety of reasons.
Reporters from outside the University are welcome to submit news and interest pieces on events occurring in their relevant realm of space. Official Corp publicity notices are welcome also. For further details on writing and content from contributors outside the Ivy League, please contact the Media Manager. Please contact either via forum PM or via ingame EVEmail with the Subject Line "Out Of Corp Writing Proposal".
How do I submit an article?
All article submissions should be made via the Wordpress Dashboard. Your username and password will be the SAME as that used for these forums (note: to contribute, you will need to have a registered account on this forum). A brief guide on submitting articles is available on the UniWiki here.
Submitting anonymous articles:
In the event that such is not available, or in the favour of anonymity, please submit any content proposals to the Media Manager via EVEmail or Forum PM and he/she will contact you with details on how to proceed. Anonymous leads may also be given here, and all leads will be treated with full confidentiality.
Submitting other media:
The submission of articles is just as welcome as the submission of audio logs, interviews, stories, video, and podcasts. Should you wish to submit any other form of media, please contact the Media Manager for detailed instruction on how to proceed.
How does role playing work?
In role playing, players post and act as if they are their character. It is a common misconception that Role Players are verbose and cannot say simple things easily. A role player would still say "Wartarget A is primary, keep up remote repping" in a fight for example. Its more important that the role player doesn't act outside of character. It is not as hard as it seems. Like real life, most mundane statements, e.g. "Great news piece, you need to clean up the last paragraph though" could be said by anyone without being particularly out of character. Just be sure not to bring up your computer, dog, Eve subscription, teamspeak, etc.

She walked to the refridgeration unit mounted on the wall of her narrow quarters aboard the Pator Tech Station in Aldrat, her boots clanging loudly on the alloyed bulkhead surfaces. Reaching in, she refreshed herself with a cool drink of Quafe before returning to her seat to continue writing this guide.
