Aria is indeed awesome if you can overcome the peace and merryness of the first season.

But Arietta should be seen after Natural and before Origination

It is a feelgood series after all
and I stand corrected on the Arietta OVA (i'm still watching the show).

I'd also suggest Kaleido Star as a good show to watch.
very little action outside the first episode, but you walk from it with a warm feeling in your stomach.

Mild necro perhaps but I shall brave it.

I just started watching a series called "Planetes" that so far(5 episodes in) is pretty good. Funny, some decent hard sci-fi, fairly likable characters for the most part. Thumbs up. It's about a crew of people that are tasked with removing junk from earth orbit but that's really just a backdrop for the story telling. Not every episode is "Run out and pick this thing up before it crashes into this other thing!". I think I'll be watching the rest of it.

You should watch it entirely, it's completely worthy. Planetes is one of the best slice of life/sci fi ever.

Let me expand the list a bit, in no particular order as all of these are awesome in their own right.

Some of the animes I have watched that I laughed the most with, as in the focus of the show is make you laugh and suceed in doing so:

GTO (43 episodes of pure awesomeness) watched
Seto no Hayanome (It will make you laugh even if you don't want to) watched
School Rumble (& sequel) (just make sure NOT to watch the third sequel) pending
Ouran Koukou Host Club (all kinds of awesome packed in a very gay-looking package, but it is not that at all) pending

Some animes I have enjoyed the most, as in the comedy in there is sometimes mixed with a bit of drama, or slice of life or whatever, but overall they are really enjoable:

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (aka the Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi) watched

Noir is an interesting anime, I watched it after I started to play Eve, so now I can't hear about Noir. Mercenary group without having flashbacks of the killer girls <.<

Noir is something i wanted to watch since years and i recently found a torrent but the subs dont work on my mac... i have to watch it when i am at home and i dont usualy have time when im at home :<

If you are still in the darker/antihero mood then get:

- Black Lagoon and Black Lagoon Second Barrage. Really, a must see.
- You could give Saikano a try. But be advised, you are still young and tender, so this one might impair your ability to achieve happiness -.-

Edit: Also don't be a moron and give Death Note a try. It's freaking awesome... how can you like Code Geass and not like Death Note?
