Inferno

Hi all,

Very impressive. I am liking everything I have seen so far. Must admit I have mixed feelings about the collective grouping of ships, items and warehouses etc. I had nicely organised everything and now its all rather messy and feels a little disjointed. Perhaps its just a case of getting used to the new layout. I am particularly liking the new ability to re-touch your toon. Great as I initally rushed into my inital creation and didn't fully explore how much I could customise my toon. Obviously I am sure there is a lot more for me to discover being a relatively new player, but I am sure some of you seasoned veterans will have lots to say over the next few days.

So far I must admit all that I have yet seen is very good. :D

o7 Elise.

Re: Inferno

Agreed. Graphics are awesome. Specially missiles and the smoke that comes out of your ship when it's hit.

I love the new hangar/cargohold system with the filters and grouping. I would have loved that they took it a bit forward and used it for the Assets window too.

Funny though, that the Cargohold-opens-after-every-jump-bug has come back.

Re: Inferno

The new inventory sucks!

... In WH.

If you open an sma or corp hanger the list on the left shows all devisions of all corp hangers. If you have guns it shows every guns inventory and for lasers even 2. Corp hangers aren't named so it's impossible to see the diffrence. Also has massive lag. They nerfed POS's again.

Re: Inferno

The inventory UI is a tad confusing, though it does have some promising features. Especially during the mining fleet I had yesterday, opening a jetcan didn't open a new window as I was used to, but instead I had to reopen the menu on my own cargo window and shift-click the can.

I really need to get used to this. Additionally the new inventory UI seems to take up more space on my screen which is already stuffed with windows :P

Haven't been able to try out the other features yet.

Do you like pointing mining lazors at Veldspar 'roids as much as I do? Take a look at the Amarr Mining Camp, they munch on Veldspar every day!

Re: Inferno

The massive lag when you try open the inventory sometimes and the auto-close/open when you jump are very annoying.

I'm not a fan of the new inventory ... let's hope they get some fixes out soon for the more glaring issues

I've not experienced that at all.

Overall, I like the new inventory. The only downgrade over the old box is the amount of lateral screen space it takes up, which can be pretty annoying on my station trader. It does need a few upgrades to make it really handy, though--

--Customizable sorting options, including contextual filters like "Items in my hangar I don't have a market order up for" and "Ammunition used by my current ship". The former, especially, would make managing large trading operations (100 or more slots) a lot easier.

--Ability to flip back to the old single-box.

--Option to flip inventory estimated market value between a few options, such as "Average system/region price", "Universal average", and "System low sell/high buy".

Also, ffs CCP, can we please act like we've played the market on other MMOs just once in our miserable lives and mark the current character's buy/sell orders in the Details window??!! It shouldn't be necessary--or that great of a leap of imagination--to see the benefits of doing that over having to go into the Orders window, right-click each item individually, select "Modify Order", and then click the little magnifying glass. That's a full two extra clicks, plus some squinting and reading, per market order maintained, per number of times updated every day.

Or about 400-600 clicks and 200-300 squints per day.

Fixing that would be a huge step forward for the quality of life every player with a station trading character, while benefitting tradebots not one iota.

/end offtopic rant.

Re: Inferno

I want my hangar back. I love the new inventory, but I want to be able to click-drag from hangar to docking bay. Just for ships.

The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides with the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and good will shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon those with great vengeance and with furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

I also got lag last night with every ship that I looted from a L4 mission.

Good news, CCP read your ragepost, fixed it, invented a time machine, then went back it time to release the fix so it's already fixed.

EvE Inventory management has been taken over by Microsoft and Borg-melded with Clippy the OCD Paperclip.

I see you have undocked from the station... Would you like to view your inventory?

I see that you have closed your inventory window... Would you like to view your inventory?

I see that you are typing an angry e-mail to CCP... Would you like to view your inventory?

I see you have ejected me towards the nearest star...

Re: Inferno

You can get something very similar to the old lots-of-separate-boxes inventory by shift clicking all over the place, hiding the left bar, and so on.

I like the way it works now, though I do wish I could search through all my containers in addition to filtering whatever container is open.
