[FLEET] WH Night-trip in LSC, #8

Post by Budda Sereda »

The standard outcome of my fleets was PvE only... (rare PvP content, but not really something which I would be happy to advertise about).

So this time (http://forum.eveuniversity.org/viewtopi ... 59#p855759) I decided to use Rasharing doctrine to maximize DPS and ISK/hour.

We got 5 DDs (4BC and 1CR) and 2 logies. No scouts unfortunately, so in the beginning we spent around 30 minutes (myself and Glen Burney) in a search of C3 WH with sites. Glen was luckier than I was, we scanned the system, it had 3 other WHs, which was a bit concerning, but... we did not really have many options.

As a precaution I got my alt into WH and put it to connection to another WH (C4). 2 others were connections to nul-sec and low-sec system, which had quite empty local and I considered them as low danger.

Differently from my previous fleets, I decided to take escalation (which I got a day before running combat site in NSC). Unfortunately, we did not get a 'final admiral' spawned... and after wasting some time to spawn it we gave up.

Fleet undocked in a squad of 4 BC (Myrmidons, Feroxes) and 1 CR, plus 2 T1 CR logies (Ospreys). We started running sites, I'm glad Glen volunteered to help with calling primaries and managing navigation between sites. At some point, we noticed Astero on D. I feel he jumped from either low or nul sec connections as I did not hear any activation...

We kept running sites and I called to focus on D-scanning. At the same time, I warped my alt to nul and low sec hole, jumped through, saw nothing... and relaxed. My assumption was: it was a scout from low sec who was looking for exploration but saw our mighty fleet and retreated.
Also, I noticed that connection to C4 turned end-of-life so I decided that monitoring low-sec is more important than the connection to C4 and moved my alt to that connection.

After 6 sites we scattered to pick-up MTUs... gathered to continue running sites... and I noticed Onyx on the grid with us. "Scatter" command was issued quickly, but ... BCs are slow. My Myrmidon was pointed, somehow 2 other ships (Noah's Ferox and Bluball's Osprey) stayed on the grid. More ships landed (3 Sleipnirs, HFI, 2 Scimitars) and eventually, we were killed:

They dropped the bubble so I and Noah lost our pods:

I was lazy to change my clone (last 7 fleets went ok) so lost 40M ISK more.

I put my alt to the tactical to the hole back to k-space, make sure it is not camped and commanded fleet to warp out.

After the fleet, I came back in salvager and picked up 40M ISK in salvage.

Good:
- scatter command was executed quite well, only 3 ships were caught out of 8
- we still brought some loot back home
- overall good performance as for inexperienced WH fleet: we got 24M each in around 1 hour (counting sites running time only) and we would get around 45M if we got the whole loot back

Should be better:
- D-Scan, guys: keep spamming D-Scan each 10 seconds. If we did, we would see that Onyx in-warp and would escape the trap
- respect information about scanners in a system and don't neglect that, often 1 picket is not enough
- strange enough, Osprey was pointed too.. is it slow or it was slow execution? Maybe he had props on...

This was really fun. I was the one in the sole CR flying a Vexor. This was the first time I'd done anything like this and it was tense and fun and spoopy and just a really good time. When I wasn't retargeting my drones or some such, I was trying to hit d-scan as often as I could.

We'd scattered to pick up loot. I'd dropped my MTU at the last site we did and so while I was waiting for the MTU to grab the last couple wrecks, I was salvaging wrecks with my salvage drones. I was trying to decipher what we were going to do next and managing my salvage drones and this is where I slacked off on spamming dscan.

I want to say I hear the scatter command, then I hit d-scan, and saw a lot of stuff that was not our fleet. I immediately start aligning a planet, looted the MTU, and then scooped it, and shift+r'ed to grab my salvage drones while I was aligning and then popped out. I bounced around planets once or twice and then was given the get out order. I made it to the exit wormhole w/o issue, though I swear I saw a biiiig reddish bubble on the way to the hole. Feels like I missed it by an inch. I made it out and made it up to stacmon and dropped off my loot.

Very fun. I would definitely recommend more people come. It was a great time and easy money!
